Nope, I'm talking about the band that went platinum 13 times on one album, has had every ablum except there first in the top 10, played a key role in inventing thrash, and went mainstream without selling out. Difference. If you sell out then your like...Green Day. And of course you thought that about turn the page: no one does Bob Dylan like Bob Dylan-but then your a fool for judging a 25 year career on a cover song anyway. And what wasn't original about St. Anger, it was invented through jam sessions and all the lyrics tell a bit of their history...if you want unoriginal go to Kill 'Em All when they were singing about the 4 horsemen and the end of the world. THATS generic, but I didn't here you knocking that did I?

To each his/her own I suppose. Sometimes its a matter of genres as well, maybe you just don't like thrash. (and it figures I'd get the artist wrong...)

Bob Segar, I said bob dyland, it was a Bob Segar cover. Staffy corrected me.

Well...the pretty much helped invent thrash to put it bluntly. I mean back in the days when Metallica started (1981, the put their first album out in '83: Kill 'Em All). everything was all hair metal and girls. Thrash is fast-its like rock on speed. Yeah, you listen to their stuff from Load on and it doesn't ring of thrash AT ALL but you hit ...And Justice For All, Master of Puppets, Ride The Lightning, Kill 'Em All-its all fast and heavy. You hit the Black album and they're still fast but hitting a more alternative note with stuff like 'Nothing Else Matters' and 'The Unforgiven'. Load had a strange jazz twinge to it, but it was still metal. Re-load was their most alternative album, and St. Anger is pretty much a cross between thrash and toned down Death Metal with lyrics you can hear.

So they have taken different routes, but 'thrash' is what Metallica got famous on. 'Battery', 'Disposable Heroes', 'Creeping Death'...all fast and unrelenting. So....uh...yep-they're thrash my dear.
