Spank isn't the word, I would do what my grandma, grandpa and aunt did. I would take a belt, electric cord, or swich(a thin piece of a stick) and beat them. I wouldn't give them a time out but I would tell them why before I punish them. A hard head makes a soft ass

If I were to have a kid, which I won't, I'd probably hang him from his toes and stick leeches too him till he swore fillial piety to me and promised to serve me scones.

I don't intend to have a kid (unless by some twist of fate I wind up adopting), but yeah, a good swat on the kid's rear would make me feel better about him/her acting up.

What I mean by this is that if a child is spanked, you need to morally support the child and explain why they received their disciplinary action. If you whack a kid for no ready reason, they will never know what you are smacking/grabbing/screaming at them for... Children are more intelligent than we give them credit for. The book the one minute manager speaks of discipline in the workplace, one minute to tear down and discipline, one minute to praise other good things that the employee did. You never actually want to leave the child with a bad taste in their mouth by getting beaten... they may run away or turn to drugs...

Man, I hated that rule. I wasn't normally one to use "bad words" but my cousin wound up saying one at one point, and I said "Mom, [cousin's name] said 'poop'!" And guess who got his mouth washed. Certainly not my cousin.

Spank the kids? Oh no, never. Another way of punishing is better. Anyway, you gotta let them figure out the consequences/reasons for their acts themselves.

I got the belt. You knew it was best to learn your lesson with the belt. You didn't do what earned you that whooping again. Kid don't learn from grounding or yelling. Primal instinct tells you "if that makes me get punished with pain I won't do it anymore."

Don't put your kid through a wall or anything, but a couple whoops with a belt seriously teaches. I think we'd have a much better teenager base today (10-16) if parents had punished their kids more instead of buying them candy for being spoiled and throwing fits.

No, it's not from anger. It's to serve your crime. If a child acts up and in a grocery store, and knocks down a display or a stack of products purposely out of a temper tantrum, you're not going to whup them when they get home? Then they'll do it again. It's nothing to do with anger, it's knowing how to act and learning discipline. Talkling and yelling does nothing, kids tune it out. Treating them with candies and toys after being bad worsens the problem.

I deserved every belt whooping I received, and it bettered me into the person I am today.
