You read that correctly, folks! The Magonian Thutmose has achieved what many of us in the community thought impossible: a keyboard for RPG Maker 1!

viewtopic.php?p=127059#p127059

KUPID, which stands for RPG Maker Keyboard Using PICAXE Inside Device, is a device that will allow, with 100% accuracy and respectable speed, the input of text through the use of a computer keyboard! You can type every character in the game with this, even "heart, male symbol, etc."

Prices have not been set for this device, but pre-orders will be available soon.

Please join me in giving Thutmose a gigantic THANK YOU for staying with this project.

Thanks everyone for your support, and interest. Kupid never would have happened without you!

Congratulations!

Question: Do you need to manually pause in between letters (to allow time for the cursor to move to each letter) or do you type at regular typing speed and then wait for the cursor to move to the letters that you have already input?

Thanks.

Yes, you need to pause in between letters. As soon as the character is entered on screen, you can hit the next letter. I wanted to add a character buffer, but the PICAXE has very limited memory and I/O pins, so it wasn't doable.

Well that still beats the hell out of using the PS controller.

EDIT: By the way it is impressive how you sought to do it and then did it. To be honest I didn't think you were going to be able to so congrats again.

Thanks. When I set my mind to something, I usually get it done.

Still working on that teleportation machine, though. The last cat I sent through came out the other side crossed with a fly. Sure, they're cute at first, then the projectile vomiting of digestive enzymes starts, and you begin wishing you hadn't gotten rid of the giant, radioactive, spider you made for Halloween to scare the trick-or-treaters.

:P Thanks. I intend not to do anything deserving of a ban, though...

For now. :evil
