Excuse this writing, because it's pretty much not gonna sound right any way I write it.

--------------------

My (and Bonanza's) grandmother, Elizabeth, is no longer with us as of 4pm EST. She was 85. Good, long life.

She was a tough woman.

My first memories of her are of her defending us at the bus stop in elementary school. The older kids were picking on us, and she stepped in, 90-pounds and all, and got them off our backs.

I also remember how she used be on our side. Always felt like she was a champion of us kids to me. Always had an ear for our troubles and never told the grownups about them unless we wanted her to. Knew lots of stuff and had stories to tell. I used to love jokin' with her. She always used to tell me I reminded her of one of her relatives that used to cause "devilment". And I was happy to supply it. :D

So, then she had a stroke and heart attacks. Got bedridden, and basically got worse over time. Well, kinda. This was sort of a surprise. But she couldn't say anything but yes and no. But at least she went out sleeping. Just some breathing issues for the last hours.

Least she's having some type of tea party with the Lord now. Maybe she'll mix her tea and coffee like she used to do. I wonder if Jesus has had anything like that?

I bet she is glad to finally glad to get out of this halfway house they call Earth. Finally, she's home.

--------------------

I guess it might go to say that I probably won't feel like working on the site for a while. But I probably will. I'll just keep you guys posted.

Anyone, even guests, should be able to leave messages on this. Thanks in advance.

-Davien

I really don't have any of the first memories of Grandma pictured in my mind, but I can recall a time she and I had this early weekday tradition. She would wake me up at 5 in the morning so we could watch reruns of Doogie Howser, M.D. Then, on the weekends, I would ask her to wake me up early, so that I could catch the morning cartooons. She almost always came through.

Like Ixzion says, Grandma was a great storyteller. She used to tell us times back when she was younger, tending the tobacco with her mom. She was feisty for her age, always stepping in to break up an argument between us siblings. She was our rock. She just...had the stroke to suddenly, and I then it was like....she couldn't really speak to us the way she wanted to anymore. I wasn't even there when she passed away (being at colllege). I would truly like to go home right now. I miss her right now, and I feel like sh*t.

~Brandon, grandson

I'm sorry to hear about both of your loss. I know how you feel when a love one dies, both of you should just take some time off and clear your head. A respite is good for grieving

I can understand how you guys feel. My great grandmother died last year. She reached an age of 80-something, and was able to be a great-great-grandmother. She was so good to all of us kids (between my generation and the next, just seven). During her last years, she kept saying how the year was going to be her last. I think that repeated for five years or so before it really was.

Time for a funny memory. One Christmas we gave her a big box. She opened it, found another wrapped box. Repeat 3 or 4 more times until a remote is found. It was to a new TV. She liked the TV, but she sure didn't like the joke. :lol

My grandma used to say the year would be her last too. We proved her wrong for almost 15 years.

Thanks to everyone for the comments so far. They are appreciated.

And sorry to hear about your uncle, too, DLO.

Right now, I have a nagging stomach ache. I'll go and see if I can fix that.

But shedding a frail human body for an immortal soul sounds pretty awesome, if you ask me. :D

However, I hope grams won't mind waiting a while for everyone to be reunited again. I have plans here. Heh.

Losing someone who was so close to you, someone you love so much....wow....I'm sorry. It seems like you have great memories of times together with your grandma. She sounds like a very special lady. How cool it is that you know she is home with the Lord.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know she means a lot to you by how greatly you remembered her.

I'm sad to even think how I'll feel when my own grandmother passes on one day. She basically was my main caretaker during my childhood.

I'm also sorry that I can't be a bit more elaborate with my words, I realize I'm no good at it after trying to console steph when her father passed on last year. :|

you guys arent the only one. my uncle died last year...but there was a problem. i was at his house watching most of my family members cry a lot. though i didnt break a tear. Later on as the days went by i started to hate myself for not crying for him. I did feel bad but i thought it wasnt enough. He would used to shake my hand when i got to his house. he would give me money too. he died in a car crash near his house at night....when his kids were sleeping.....think about that. waking up in the morning not realizing he died. i videotaped and was at his last birthday party....he was happier that time. My birthday pasted on july and he died at august. But i know his death was planned. i know its crazy but later on me and my famlily found out his wife was cheating before he died. The person that crashed into him is still alive. every time i go to his house i would see his teenage son and teenage daughter sitting watching t.v. and his wife watching too. ...the house is very quite now. the only sounds you can hear are when my cousins talk or the tv is on.

R.i.p. uncle :)

I know I haven't been talking to you guys very long, but I hope you can take my shoulder as if I was a friend. I've only lost one family member in my life, and it hurt too. My grandfather was a sweet sweet man. I remember alot of times I spent with him. But, unfortunately, the thing I remember the most was the last thing he said to me.

"Nice meeting you."

He lost most of his memories while on his deathbed. It was all my mother could take to keep her composure. I don't wish those feelings on anyone, and when good people like you guy's go through it.... that really hurts. Davien, Brandon... I'll be praying for you.

Thanks for all the support, and I'm equally sad by your losses.

I'm going to take this down tomorrow.

I am sorry about your loss as well. My condolences to you both and your family. It is good to remember all the good times, and remember her as she was, and to know that she is in a better place now. It is good to take time and feel your feelings, and I know it is hard, but you should also be happy and do the best you can to keep living. From what you told us of how wonderful a woman she was, I am sure she would want it that way.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. You should dedicate the next game you make to her.
