1. Could you go over what you presented this year at Magcon?
I went over Acre-age at this year's MagCon. I actually went over it last year, but Lantis recorded all of like 2 minutes of it and half the people fell asleep on it during the play (since we did it on the first day when we were all torn up from driving). The demo, despite what you see, was actually a new demo.
2. What do you think might be a good estimate of when you might release your game?
Since KUPID is on its way to my house, I am optimistic about a date that's in the future. I refuse to give any more dates because they just end up disappointing. I'll only release a date two weeks or so from when the game is due to drop.
3. Is there anything you wish you would have added to your presentation?
I wish I could have shown off the new areas I did in motion. The camera was running out of power and I didn't want it to cut out in the middle of things. There's the ice village, changes to existing areas and the kingdom that were all actually reachable in the MagCon demo that aren't in the Game Vault but I just didn't get to it.
4. What did you think of the presentation and live reactions this year?
I was pretty satified with the demo and was pretty happy about the live reactions. So much so that I can't wait to get the final product out there into the community. Just thinking about the advent of the RM1 keyboard, I can devote a lot more time to the story when I know I would have likely cut some dialogue because of the t-y-p-i-n-g on RM1.
I'm glad we're doing this stuff and showed a great hand at MagCon.
5. What other games at MagCon did you find impressive and why?
I found every game impressive in different ways. For example, I found Josh's Adventure impressive because it was much better than 1ce's previous work so far. The areas are for the most part pretty nicely designed and it seems like it's going to be a pretty funny game.
Secret of Everyone has impressed me by the sheer magnitude and thought put behind the game. The walkthrough alone should make people take notice of the game. The effects and everything make me want to work harder on my own game.
Sequel: The Door extracted an impressive amount of disgust from everyone.
Survival II was probably one of the most amazing things I've seen done with RPG Maker 1. I still can't believe the amount of effort that came from MRevelle83 taking the original game and building on top of it. If he manages to finish it, it would make the Sequelpalooza contest a complete success. Actually, no, just the MagCon demo makes Sequelpalooza have meaning. Just a beautiful-looking game so far.
Dungeon Crawled was the most addictive game of the show, though, hands-down. If the game was about 10 levels long and kept the same action-puzzle gameplay throughout, it would be a contender for top 5 best games for RM2.
6. What other games would you like to see a live presentation of at MagCon 2011?
I would like to see the Final Fantasy Starter Kit that was supposed to be at MagCon this year! I'd also like to see games that people have been working on for years now: Rincar, Chi Legacy, WANDER, and an RPG Maker DS game! (lol)
7. Can we expect to see something from you next year?
I find it unlikely. The only thing on my mind is Acre-age and after that, RPGMM v6! I won't be doing any serious RPG Maker for a while.
This year's presentation of Acre-age is below.
Note 1: Political Incorrectness and Bad Language inside.
