1. Could you go over what you presented this year at Magcon?
I presented what is essentially a tech demo for RPGM2, hopefully of a game that will actually be completed. The game is called "Dungeon Crawled", and it is a puzzle game that is similar to block puzzlers, but with a twist: instead of simply dealing with falling blocks and trying not to let the screen get full, you're a hero dealing with a charging hoard of enemies and need to attack them in chains so that you can gain enough Experience Points to defeat their leader. I guess that would make this an action-RPG-puzzler.
2. What do you think might be a good estimate of when you might release your game?
Once I get all the basic level mechanics down, much of the game should easily fall into place. I'd say I could finish it this year. If I had to make a more specific guess... Fall.
3. Is there anything you wish you would have added to your presentation?
I would've liked to have had some of the game actually finished, especially some of the planned puzzle mode.
4. What did you think of the presentation and live reactions this year?
Very promising. If I can somehow manage to recreate the addictiveness of trying to achieve a high score that went on in that hotel room, I can tell I'd have a hit on my hands.
5. What other games at MagCon did you find impressive and why?
Arc Arath because it seems like it's going to be quite the epic RPG, able to compete with commercial games. Survival 2 because of that custom menu. And Josh's Adventure, because it's its own game and not some port, and has some interesting level designs.
6. What other games would you like to see a live presentation of at MagCon 2011?
SEQUEL: SEQUEL OF SEQUEL.
7. Can we expect to see something from you next year?
Aside from bringing a finished Dungeon Crawled for the fun of it, not sure. Even if I got back to work on Slayers' Reign, there's nothing I could show that would top the MagCon '09 presentation. So it depends on if I start working on a new idea or not.
This year's presentation of Dungeon Crawled is below.
