I thought we were recording something at Magcon.

We are probably going to record something at Magcon. So we should be in the clear. Though I'm still down to race before then.

It's just whatever, really.

I don't suppose you guys would take outside suggestions for unofficial races? It'd definitely be interesting to see you all take on a game that likely none of you have played before.

Ever thought of doing a monster collection game, like Pokemon or Robopon? There's a GBC game called Metal Walker which is pretty underrated. It's an RPG type game but the battle system is like pinball.

There's also the Donkey Kong Land series for the Game Boy, as well as Donkey Kong 94!

Pokemon is not an option because it would take way too long to get through. We prefer games that won't take more than 8 videos to finish.

The DKL games are entirely possible, but Donkey Kong '94 requires familiarity with the game due to its puzzle-solving.

OK! :) Thanks for the clarification.

Thought of a couple SNES games like The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang and the Pocky and Rocky series!

In that case, I got 10 of them for you.

1) Banjo-Tooie (with cheats)
2) Wario Land
3) TLoZ: Ocarina of Time
4) Super Mario Kart (Time trial mode)
5) Sonic 3 (not the "& Knuckles" version)
6) Spyro the Dragon
7) Super Mario Bros. 1
8) Little Nemo: The Dream Master
9) Diddy Kong Racing (Adventure mode)
10) Kirby's Adventure

I do have some ideas but I also want to issue a challenge to you guys to do a race wherein everyone goes in completely blind. I have a few NES games in mind but don't want to name them yet because someone might go out and play them, thus ruining the blind challenge.

I wouldn't mind seeing some non-mario kart racers. DDK or CTR would be cool.

Or a co-op race of Payday (just the bank level). We could do a 3 on 3 with the number of current magonians with it. For formatting, Lantis's screen on one side, Ix's on the other. Their team mates' screens or avatars would be below; only brought front and center instead of Lantis's or Ix's if something cool is on screen. Even if not for the race channel we should play this anyway.

Or Duke Nukem 3D.

With the following cheats, it's possible to beat Banjo-Tooie in less than 2 hours:

CHEATOSUPERBANJO - Allows Banjo to run faster
CHEATOJIGGYWIGGYSPECIAL - Opens all of Jiggywiggy's doors
CHEATOHONEYKING - Gives Banjo infinite health and air

You don't earn these cheats by giving Cheato his pages. I had to look these up watching a speedrun which I don't think is available on SDA anymore.

And even with these cheats, you still have to get a certain amount of abilities from Jamjars. In fact, with these cheats the least amount of notes you could finish the game with is 505.

If we plan a Google Hangout sometime, I could walk you through this if you'd like.

I dunno, this would also require that we know where all the jiggies are. And I guarentee none of us are familiar enough with the game for that.

Not necessarily. Beating the game with only ONE jiggy is possible with these cheats. I've seen it done before.

Well that wouldn't be a very interesting race.

Okay, so maybe you're right: Maybe this wouldn't work out as a race for you guys. But if you'd think a 70-jiggy run would be more interesting, I'll go ahead and break down the benefits of using the cheats I mentioned:

Less Backtracking
Less trips to Jiggywiggy's Temple
Less abilities required
You can skip Hailfire Peaks and Cloud Cuckooland ENTIRELY

Yeah, so I mentioned trying to race tomorrow night (6/12). Can we do it? Looking at Mega Man 2.
