Additionally, I am against any explicit listing of who has and hasn't played/downloaded a specific game. Too many possibilities for stupidity to breed.

What kind of possibilites for stupidity are you talking about?

Expectation of reciprocation. See it everywhere on the internet - before it was "friend for friend" on myspace, now it's "sub for sub" on youtube. If we had any sort of list, especially if there's top lists for number of downloads, this kind of behavior WOULD be seen. Maybe not among our core group of members, but among newer members for sure. It's something you may or not may not accept as truth, but any moderator here will attest that many of our new registrations simply aren't the greatest thinkers ever. Either way, it's us that would have to deal with this particular sort of pestering and I don't want any part of it.

I can also see instances of people intentionally looking through member lists to see who has and hasn't downloaded their game. People are fickle and I wouldn't put it past them to start some ridiculous drama around the premise of "you haven't even downloaded my game yet!" or "you played his but not mine!" or some other variation of it. Really, it's none of anyone's business what games I have downloaded/played (which is exactly 0, for the record) and, again, I wouldn't want to have to deal with situations having anything to do with this.

If they want to know, they can ask. We're a forum. A forum is social. Social things happen on social mediums. Imagine that. If you're on decent enough terms with members of this forum to care what they have played/if they have the same tastes as you, there shouldn't be any problem with, you know, talking.

A list of what you have downloaded that only you can see, however, I wouldn't have a problem with. It's the possibilities of public knowledge that I'm against.

Am I to assume that you're fine with a list of what you have downloaded that only you and all of the admins can see? Since that's what we'd inevitably get.
