This is me playing some TF2. I might make a few more of these, but since the game has no real plot, you watching me kill people is probably going to get old pretty quick. I suppose I could feature the game modes, and some of the play styles of the different classes.

(if the video doesn't load, come back later. I'm uploading it and making this thread simultaneously.)

Posted a second episode. Enjoy, it's a bit random at first...

This is another episode. I've to do all the maps and game modes. CTF is first. I'll do CP (Verses, then Attack/Defend) next, then KOTH. After that I'll tackle PL and then PLR. I'll close with with SD, and if I can find a good sever, try a few episodes on TC.*
Part 1

Part 2

* Key to alphabet soup:

CTF = Capture The Flag (Self explanatory)
CP = Control Points (Verses means that there are 5 control points and the team that owns them all wins, Attack/Defend Means that there are 3 points that all belong to RED at first, and BLU attempts to capture them within a time limit.)
KOTH = King of the Hill (see CTF)
PL = Payload. Escort missions where BLU pushes a cart with a bomb on it into RED's base with in a time limit.
PLR = Payload Race Each team is trying to push a cart. First to the end of the line wins. (time limit optional; on servers that have none, rounds can last for HOURS.)
SD = Special Delivery. Sort of a cross between CTF and KOTH. There is only one map though.
TC = Territorial Control. This is an odd gamemode; There are 7 control points scattered around the map. Three are BLU's and Three are RED's. The final one is unclaimed. Each round, two control points of opposing color are isolated from the others and teams attempt to capture the point of the other team. This continues, one round at a time, until all 6 points belong to one team, then the final point becomes available. This is point fought over KOTH style. Interestingly, it is this final point that determines the winner of the game, so it's entirely possible for one team to own all the other points and still loose. Because of the back and forth nature of this mode, it's rarely played as there is no time limit, and the real possibility that evenly matched teams could "stalemate" indefinitely thus never opening the final point. Also, the only Map for this mode is IMMENSE and constantly changing as routes open and close from round to round, making map layout memorization considerably more difficult. In fact, it's completely plausible to play the mode twice, and not see the same control point combinations in either game. In short, and for these reasons, many consider TC a "broken" gamemode.

I could never get into TF2, but glad you're having fun.

TF is more like a sport or Chess game than your run of the mill FPS. It's a bit funny, but while the art style is retro future, it's most definitely a product of the internet age. Playing TF2 is almost like enjoying distilled geek culture. In fact, I was on a Mario Cart server the other day, and a lengthy discussion about the merits of various animes, mangas, and OVA's cropped up. It got so interesting that most people just quit fighting and started doing random crap instead while they talked.

stuff like that is not uncommon for a good pub com server.
