Max Drive allows for transfer of saves from computer to PS2 memory cards. You can copy files from PS1 cards to PS2 cards, and copy PS1 saves on PS2 cards back to PS1 cards. Is there a way to convert Dex Drive files to just plain old PS1 files?

I hope this is somewhat clear.

As far as I'm aware, you need to use the Dex Drive software (Dexplorer) and the Dex Drive itself to convert those .GME files into usable PS1 files.

But Dex Drives are cheap:

So getting another one isn't as bad as it was in the past.

There is also other software out there that can convert the GME (DexDrive) files into other formats. Just search for "PSX GME converter" or somesuch and you should be able to find it.

A DexDrive file is basically just a straight dump of a PS1 memory card image, in theory you could strip off the 3904 header in a hex editor and change the extension to .SAV, and it would then be compatible with an emulator. But there's enough converter software out there that it shouldn't be necessary to bother editing the file directly.

Though, if you're talking about actually getting the DexDrive GME file onto a PS1 memory card, that I don't know how to really do without a DexDrive.

Actually I got a new question I transfer a RPG Maker file from PS1 card to a PS2 card to a Max Drive to a pc can I transfer from pc to Max Drive to PS2 card to PS1 card and have it work. You can transfer PS1 save files using a PS2 system to and from PS1 cards to PS2 cards. I need to convert DexDrive saves to Max Drive saves.

That I'm not sure about. I've never done it myself.

In theory, it is possible. All i can suggest is to try it out and see what happens.

Again, do a google search for "PSX save converter", and/or check out emulation sites for converter software.

No, PS1 files are NOT compatable with the PS2 Max Drive. If you try, the file will be corrupted.

That's what I thought - it's been a while since I last used mine.

So there isn't any other way of getting the file onto a PS1 memory card - you just need to have a DexDrive.
