I have officially submitted my first game "Who did this!?".

I will be creating topics here at Modal Realms for questions, comments, and criticism.

I made some serious progress this past weekend on getting my first game ready to be posted.

Up until this point, the game was completed both for myself to make and a friend to play. I had originally completed the game with a particular ending that included inside jokes that only my friend would get. He played and completed the game about a year ago.

I had been slow to post the game for a number of reasons including that part of what I was doing before was eliminating the aspects of the game that were inside jokes. I hadn’t been in the mood to do that for awhile and mixed with other responsibilites, it took much longer than it should have.

But I did complete that aspect a couple months ago and up until now, I have been trying to figure out how the story would work. Originally, I had basically just included story elements without figuring out if the overall concepts, messages, and scenario situations made sense in a way that was unified. That is what I had really put off doing.

But this last weekend, I sat there and rethought the story line and added or modified some storytellers to makes sure that for anyone else playing the game other than myself or my friend, that the overall message would be sufficiently coherent. I believe that I have done so at least to an extent that I am happy with it.

Now it is a matter of one more test play and getting it posted.

If all goes well, I see it getting posted within a week, but I stopped promising a release date a long time ago as I never stick to it.

Well it is approaching the 2 month overdue date from when I had originally intended to have my game out.

I just cannot seem to find 3 F!@#$% hours to get it all set to go.

I cannot do it this weekend.

Next week looks great.

If not next week, then I think next Sunday is a dead lock. I have decided to make Sundays my RPGM3 day and I pretty much got nothing to do (then to hypnotize you) after this Monday, so the following Sunday should be the latest for sure.

I hope.

Thanks, it's just frustrating because there is so little that needs to be done, but I just can't find time to get it done.

I apologize. The game should be posted by now.

There is absolutely no way possible that this game won't be up by the end of next week. Seriously!

UPDATE: Made almost all adjustments last night.

I have maybe a half hour of work left and decided to do one more test play of the events to make sure everything functions.

I highly expect the game posted by early next week.

I decided to keep the name "Who did this!?".

UPDATE: I apologize for not having the game available as of the new projected release date.

Yesterday I performed my final test play and eveything looks good.

I have a couple things to change which should only take a couple hours at most.

I am really hoping to get the game up by early next week.

Since I have not yet delivered on the goods, for your patience I am prepared to say this much:

It is a survival-horror game for RPGM3. It is the perfect length for a Friday night. It takes place in Pennsylvania.

End communication. :)

Thanks. I'll be careful and if something goes wrong, I'll look into being real sure that it won't happen again.

Max Drive.

Not that it's a reason to avoid the Max Drive. All PS1 and PS2 file converters have a chance at corrupting your memory card. Anyway, I think it was a file that I actually put on my memory card, not the Max Drive. Not sure if a memory card can be corrupted by copying to the Max Drive.

I'll keep that it mind. Thanks.

Do you remember how your card got corrupted in the first place?

Well you could wind up with a corrupt file on the memory card that can't be removed, but you can fix that by re-formatting the card. I had to do it once, but I can't remember how I did it.

Thanks. I appreciate the advice.

Actually, I have a number of copies of the game on mulitple cards. I will be transferring it from a single card dedicated to holding the "copy to be transferred" to the Maxdrive. I'm more concerned that if something goes wrong in the transfer (whether I lose that copy or not) that any future attempt to restore a copy to this dedicated card from a backup card might result in corruption on one or both cards.

Do you think that is likely, unlikely?

Make sure to back up your game on another memory card (or the PS2 HDD, if you have it) before you try transferring it. You don't want to risk losing your game.

Update on the game for RPGM3: As you can see I posted on the 14th that I hoped to have the game up within about 2 weeks. That would be tomorrow. The game itself is basically complete and I have actually test played it, but there are a couple things that need to be changed which will take a couple hours and then I need to transfer it, which I think I know how to do but have never done before. I will not have time this week or this weekend for sure. There is a good probability that I will do it by the end of the following weekend, so the new target release date is by 3/12/07, but hopefully sooner. I will keep you posted as soon as it is up.

As far as names go, I'm undecided if I am going to stay with the name that I currently have.

Presently it is called "Who did this!?", but I may change it.

The reason is that the game was originally made with a friend in mine. The orignal title was more of an inside joke. I am keeping some of the original inside content that I think others may also relate too, but I am changing the content that others won't have any relation too as it will detract from the game.

I am not sure about the title yet.

Welcome to Modal Realms.

Modal Realms is the Development Studio of Anonymous Bo.

I have followed the mag for awhile but only recently became a member. I am a big fan of RPG Makers 1, 2, and 3. Someday I hope to post games for all three RPG Makers, but for now I will be focused on producing as many interesting, fun, and unique experiences for RPG Maker 3 that I can. I am in the final stages of test playing my first full game, which will be made available for RPG Maker 3 from the Maxdrive.

I will be posting more forums about myself, my games, and my questions to you as fellow gamers, designers, and fans of the RPG Maker titles. I also look forward to playing as many of your games as possible.

I'm not ready to say anything about my first game just yet, but I will certainly announce the game and set up a topic to discuss it in my studio when everything is ready to go. I expect to post the game within 2 weeks.

I hope you will enjoy your experience of Modal Realms.
