Defenders of Light: The Three Worlds
Overview:
It's been a busy week for everyone I would say, But I managed to get to talk to the creator of the Defenders Of Light: The Three Worlds. This amazing game takes you through a world of heros collecting lights to defeat the evil Haida. I got my chance to speak with ShawnForbes and heres what he had to say.

Developer Interview: Shawn Forbes

Taizongames says: Hello

Shawn says: Hey

Taizongames says: Are you ready to start the preview?

Shawn says: "preview"?

Taizongames says: Preview, interview, etc.

Shawn says: Ok.

Taizongames says: So, how did you come up with Defenders of Light 2?

Shawn says: My original vision for DoL was a non-linear , multi-character platformer. The RPGM1 version saw some of that vision take form. But, with RPGM2, I was able to get damn close.

Shawn says: Since the main vilian was defeated in the first installment, I felt that his mother should fill the gap. Haida was originally from Swords & Sorcerers, another game of mine. She was Mortat's mother in that too.

Taizongames says: When I first played your demo, The introduction was good and I loved the way the titlescreenn and everything worked. How long did it take you to do that?

Shawn says: First, I storyboarded the entire intro, then I worked it out in RPGM2. From start to finish... maybe a month. This included writing the prologue.

Taizongames says: That's good.

Taizongames says: I always wondered how long it would take.

Taizongames says: Where did you get your inspiration from?

Shawn says: It probably could've taken less time, but I'm very particular about detail. Something as small as the characters "expression", or the timing of a fade or a camera move could keep me occupied for days.

Shawn says: Inspiration...

Shawn says: Hmm...

Shawn says: Originally, DoL didn't have a name, it was an experiment to see if I could make a character select menu using RPGM1. The game grew out of that. I guess you could say that I was influenced by Donkey Kong 64. It inspired me.

Shawn says: DoL:T3W expands on that.

Taizongames says: Your game has some of the greatest fun factor I've ever experienced for RPG Maker 2. Do you have a release date or are you planning on finishing it when ever it's a good time?

Shawn says: I'm not sure when it'll get done, but I DO want to finish it. Currently I'm working on something else with RPGM2.

Taizongames says: By chance could I ask what are you working on? ^_^

Shawn says: It's a secret... ... ... I'd like to say... ... ... but I want to work out some "kinks" before I officially announce anything...

Taizongames says: I can't wait until you finish it, I hope it's good as your current game.

Shawn says: It'll be... ... ... ... different.

Shawn says: ...but still good... I hope

Taizongames says: That's good to hear. Well, I would like to thank you for your time for this preview.

Shawn says: No problem. Thanks.

Taizongames says: Okay, till the next time. Later.

Shawn says: Bye.

Previewer Impressions: Defenders of Light 2

The intro and and the selection screen is well done. I really like the attention to detail in them. It's something of a mark in Shawn Forbes' games.

This is a good demo. I really enjoyed it, but I just wish there were more of those clever puzzles in it.

Overall, I'd have to say that the game so far is creative, fun and well done.
