RPGM2 Survival Guide
RPGM2 Survival Guide
Well...enough to get your started, anyway. :p

With the coming of RPGM2, the newest functions will have you in custom hog heaven. This can be a confusing time to go through, but Vonwert and RPGMM have teamed up to give you the heads-up on what you need to stay in the game!

Finding a USB Keyboard
RPGM2 also allows for what rpg makers all over the world have wanted for a long time, ability to use a keyboard to type!

When you are shopping for a keyboard for use of RPGM2, you will need a USB keyboard. It will allow you to connect it to your PS2. Remember that is has to be a USB connector, or else it won't work. There are multiple kinds of keyboards that you can use. It is suggested that you get a keyboard and controller in one. The Logitech Netplay is one of the best out there. But you don't need to get one, instead of opting to get a cheaper keyboard from places like Officemax , Staples , and Gamestop .

RPGMM recommends...

  • Logitech Netplay - Costs anywhere from $40-70, but is easily the best keyboard to use for RPGM2.
  • Proboard - Costs about $20. A solid USB keyboard.

Memory Cards
Memory cards were important in RPGM1, and they are very important in RPGM2. There are a lot of single, double, and even quadruple cards our there, but we believe Sony's is the most reliable. It's true that the manual and reviews say that you can only have one game on one memory card, but there is a trick out where you can spand your games on multiple memory cards. While you can still make a huge game on one memory card, if you want a huge, epic game, then getting more than one memory card will be important.

RPGMM recommends...

  • Sony PS2 Memory Card (8MB) - The first-party memory card is still one of the best bets for properly maintaining your hard work.

Sharing Over the Internet/Sharkports and X-ports

For sharing your games over the internet, there are two options open to you. Sharkport and Xport. They allow for transfering PS2 memory card data to your computer. The only downsides to both, are as following. Both devices have different file formats. Till there is a way of changing the file formats, there won't be anyway of giving your game to someone who has a different device. The other downside, is the availibility of getting one. The companies who made them, have stopped production. You can still find them on internet game stores and e-bay.

RPGMM recommends...

  • Interact Sharkport - Made by the same people responsible for the PS1 Dexdrive, the Sharkport is a sure bet to transfer your precious saves.
  • X-port - This is a file-transfer device said to be better than the Sharkport. It also seems to be more accessible than the Sharkport, which has gone out of production.

That's it. Hopefully, you won't be wandering aimlessly in your quest to create the Ultimate RPG. Good luck!
