My mother found this poem a long time ago in a obituary for someone who died, and saved it because she thought it was really sweet. I think the same thing, it's sad, but sweet.

Two tired eyes are sleeping, two willing hands are still, for one who suffered for too long is resting now in God's will. In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, our hearts were almost broken as you fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping so peaceful free from pain, we couldn't bear to wish you back to suffer that pain again. God gave us strength to meet it and courage to bear the blow, what it meant to lose you, no one will ever know. It's a lonely world without you, we miss you more each day, for life is not the same since God came and took you away.

That is just brutally awesome. Pure Gothic.

I don't see anything Gothic about this poem, as it was written by a Christian.

The essence of Gothic in this Christian poem is regarding the nature of life that occurs when traveling from realm to realm and how those of one realm about to leave struggle to give up the experience the transcendence into the realm of pure heaven because love on earth is that powerful and that those who do love the dying person cannot see the death of the person as life in another realm but only as real death.

I understand, I thought you meant gothic as in chains, black clothes, hoodies, etc. I understood you meant it as a complement, and agree that line is pretty awesome.

The thing I like the most about this poem is how it regards the transition from life into death. It doesn't make it sound particularly sad or bad, but rather peaceful and releasing.

For me, that's the best line. Because it's so true.
