Two weekends ago I lost all the data on my memory card when I bumped the USB to Serial cable I use to hook up my DexDrive and it became unplugged. That sucked enough. I then tried to use my DexDrive again for the first time since last weekend....DexDrive not detected, and the little green its-all-good-light won't light up. Anyone know what happenned? Is it time for a new DexDrive?

Keep working at it for a little bit. If it continues not working, then maybe yeah.

disconnect the serial cable from the USB adapter, and reconnect it while the cable is plugged into the computer.

Thanks for the help but it seems there's no saving it. I'm checking ebay for a new one right now.

::edit::
Just got one for 15.95 after shipping, unopened.

Okay now I am very confused. I hooked up my new one and it does the same thing. Nothing. So I took it to my friends house, where it worked just fine.

I figure it must be a software issue. I reinstall dexplorer off the mag and now I can't get it to change from looking for a N64 dexdrive. How do I get it to recognise the PS dex?

The software isn't the problem, it's interchangeable. Maybe the problem lies in the back of your computer. Anything wrong with the 9-pin connector?

It doesn't exist. I use a usb to 9-pin adapter.

Stop trying to install the software you downloaded from the mag. it's for the N64 dex drive only (...why?)

go download the dexplorer software from the pav.

Are you sure? That shouldn't be the case. I uploaded it myself.

Let me go and reupload...

That explains why so many people somehow had the N64 version.

That shouldn't make any difference. Like I said, it will work with either psx or 64, because the software is exactly the same.

no it's not. the N64 version will only recognize the N64 Dex Drive, likewise the PS version will only recognize the PS dex drive. likewise, the PS and N64 both us different save formats, and the output on the N64 dex drive is ".n64", not ".gme". the interface is the only thing similar in the software.

I disagree Val. But anyway, hope you get that dexdrive running.

you're disagreeing with the functionality of the software?

the N64 dex drive software will not recognize the PS dex drive.

That's exactly what I'm saying. I have the n64 software downloaded into my computer, and it detects and runs my PSX dexdrive.

what version (number) are you running then?
and are you sure you arent just running the PS version? because even the PS version has N64 memory card icons in the software.

Well, I just tried that version and I was shocked that it actually does recognize the PS dex drive. So at least one version (and possibly others) of the dexdrive software work with both hardware types, while others only work with one. thats pretty strange.
