So you never got a gift!?

Sorry to hear that.

Well at least with this idea the games are not being made for X-mas and it is expected that they will be done within a week or so. Chances are good that if someone doesn't do their part, they won't be allowed to choose a new person until the old person get's their gift, but we could do it such that instead of paring, everyone get's a single person which may not be the same as whoever that person has. That way you would be likely to at least get someone else's game within the next week. I still think this is best because if no one likes your topic, you'll never get a game.

I don't know about this whole gift thing...

I just say make something small. And post it. Then who ever wants to play it.. Can play it.

I have to applaud you KK for this idea. this is what RPG maker was meant to do. Sure you can make the epics, but if you look at the size constraints, short games are the intended format. I think that for the best results we should also limmit the games to fitting on 1 maybe 2 memory cards. (for rm1) and perhaps a size restraint on RM 2 and RM3 games as well.

I like the idea of submitting small games, especially on RPG Maker. Part of the problem is many of us are trying to make the RPG Making process more complicated than it is by making long games, when just two or three scenarios (in the case of RPGM1) would do. As for the game swap idea... I like it, but instead of writing up specifics for a gift game, I think we should do like a secret santa type thing.

Anyone who wants to participate should add their name to a list and someone in charge should secretly draw and pair them up and oversee the process. All that the "drawee" would have to do is look at the person's profile whose name you've "drawn" to see what kind of games they like. Then when you're finished with their game, send it in with "a gift for (insert name here)" in the description. This would require more time than a week, and there would have to be some way of keeping the designer anonymous until the person played through the game, but I think it would make both a great gift and a great writer's block buster. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't mind trying this once...after all, two of my garbage games each took less than a half hour to make....

^ Agreed. Everyone is putting way too much time into planing large games. Sometimes its the small quests that can be fun. And it will make it that much easier for a part 2 for something. :)

I really like this idea. I'm currently making a short game right now. So, Krazy Week has been put aside for awhile.

I just finished a game that took all of 3.5 hours to create and all of half an hour to test. Although after testing I alterred the game ever so slightly that it will now take much much longer. I just need to get to a friend's house to use his dexdrive since mine is out of commission.

Now that I am comfortable with transferring files to and from the Mag through the MAXDrive to the PS2, I plan on making all kinds of short games and also playing them as well. I thought your "The Adventures of Bunnywolf" was a good idea for a "complete" (as opposed to a demo) short game which I enjoyed playing.

Monster Football is released. It's not an actual RPG but its a pick-up-n-play game with some difficulty.

Sorry for the bug there Bo. :blush

I will see what I can do to fix it.

It's all good. I didn't mean it to sound sarcastic when I said "complete" as i did fix the bug and played to the end. :)

I meant to say that it was fun to know that you can make and play "complete" games so easily and within reasonable time limits. That's all I meant. :D
