Alright. First, this idea started out as a plot outline for a RPGM1 game. It's a comedic view of RPG cliches. Not a screaming parody like Untraditional or something like that, but instead, a light-hearted take at what we all know so well. A game with a light mood, to play and enjoy, to pass the time, relax and feel good about it.
But then... the idea just developped and developped to the point when it just spiraled completely out of my control; I believe now that the places, characters, and events are developping and creating themselves on their own, without my help O.o
The thing is, I'm not really sure if this mutant-amazingly-growing-idea can fit now into the utterly limited RPGM1 engine. It probably can. But, I've been thinking about turning it into something in which I have more freedom with the storytelling, perhaps writing or even drawing a comic about it.
So that's why this is in Creativity. Because it's an idea. An idea... for a plot. I'm just not sure where this plot will fit in ^^

Now, for the thing itself.

Main Characters

Arch
Arch is a boy who lives in the Village (yet to be named). He is 16, but is also a full-fledged, full-working Ninja; because in the RPG world, if you are 16, you are old enough to be a master in anything. His best friend is Donn, and his girlfriend is Anna. Actually, no one in the village knows what he sees in Anna, and when asked about it Arch just smiles and doesn't talk.

Anna
She is a 17-year old Witch, Arch's girlfriend. She is notorious in the Village, because of her stone cold attitude and rude ways. She isn't bad looking by any means, she's even very pretty, it's just that people avoid her too much to notice it her appearance! No one knows how she and Arch became so close, it just happened, one day. People are too afraid to ask her about it. Sometimes she is seen together with Arch, both of them not saying a thing, just observing the sky or some random thing.

Donn
Arch's best friend, he is 16 years old. He is Rhyme's sibling, and a Wizard. That happened because when they were young, Donn and Rhyme looked totally alike. So, the kids got mixed up and Donn ended up oing to Wizard School and Rhyme ended up in the Fighter School. Upon reaching the puberty, strange things started growing in even stranger places in both of them, and people realized the mistake, but it was too late.

Rhyme
Donn's sibling, a friend of Arch. She is the only female Fighter in the Village (for the reasons mentioned above), and a tough one at that. Differently from Anna, she is very popular among the guys in the Village because of her laid-back attitude. Unlike you may be thinking... no, she is NOT in love with the main character ;)

The main Plot

Arch and Donn from the Village are two 16-year olds that have the greatest hero of all times, the Golden Paladin, as their idol. The Golden Paladin has many times saved the world and is still active, and is the idol of thousands of young people around the world.

One time, the Village is invaded by a Dark Knight and his army. The Kinght's plans are frustrated by the amazingly powerful teenagers of the village (just like any good RPG plot). Before fleeing, the Dark Knight makes a revelation: the recent increase in monster and evil activity (also a key point in any good RPG) is being caused by the disappearance of the Golden Paladin. He has not been seen for months now.

Frustrated by that revelation, Arch and his three friends mentioned above set out to find out what happened to their idol. By RPG standards, they were old enough to leave home at 13, so it's okay.

And there's the plot twists, new characters, villains, and all that jazz too, I'm just lazy to post it now.

So, what do you guys think? There's still much to be put in words, but that's basically the jist of it.

Sounds good. Its always fun to find things. Like gold and items. I would put some of that into the game too. :)

Story sounds really good. :D

Actually, despite the comical mood to the thing, my main idea with this is to show character relations.

My goal is to build characters and relationships between them that mimic real life, like, very very closely. Brother - sister relation, friend relations, boyfriend - girlfriend relations. That sorta thing.

And Kajak, the relation Arch-Anna is totally based on the relation Yoh-Anna in Shaman King (I did mention in the character topic that they made the best couple ever, didn't I?). But the name isn't the same because of that. My character's name is Ana because I think it's a beautiful woman's name, that's all =P

Well, we all need something like that in RPG's.That would make the characters background more in depht and interesting.

Keep up the good work Gnasher and i hope you could make the game worthwhile :D

i think he's still undecided as to whether he wants it to be a game, or a story, comic, or whatnot.

so yeah... personally, i wouldn't suggest a comic. It's involve an awful lot of effort per part, and a mistake or a change of plans means a whole lot of redrawing.

it would be interesting, written. But subtle character development of the kind you're talking about it hard to write about. It's more often a passive thing that the audience picks up on only gradually and indirectly through the actions of the character. It depends entirely on how you want to tell the story, which way you choose to present it.

So yeah... my suggestion really wasn't that much of a suggestion at all ^^;

Coming back with more. A few more characters.

---

The Golden Paladin:

He is, hands down, the absolutest hero to ever cross the land. Heroic pose, stylish golden shining armor, and a HUGE sword. Doesn't talk much, but when he does, you can surely expect Oscar Wildean sentences. No one knows how old he is or how he looks like (read below), but he's been acting for 12 years now.

There are two strange particularities in this man that stand out. The first is that he ALWAYS wears a magical golden helmet that keeps his face in eternal shadows. That's why no one knows how he looks like. Even direct sunlight can't pass through the shadows. It helps protecting his family in his unknown village, and it's a great dramatic effect.

The other one is the unstability of his acts. One day the Golden Paladin is seen slaying some dark evil deity in an unthinkable plane of existance. The next day, he's saving kitties from a tree while the village right next door is on fire. Some say it's the mark of a true hero, to help anyone at any time. Some say he's just plain mad. The only thing everyone is sure of is that even if you are a candy-stealer, Golden Paladin might show up at your door. And that scares the hell out of villains!

Awards: The Golden Paladin has won the Savior of the World Award 5 times, and Universe's Only Hope Award 3 times. Without counting thousands of smaller minor prizes.
He's been featured as cover for the ARMOR!! Magazine 7 times total.
And he's also been nominated for Weirdest Hero 4 times, but never won. Competition for that one is TOUGH.

---

Welder:

Welder is an elderly man, a hermit living on the top of a fairaway mountain. His hobby is to train young heroes in the path of young heroism, and he's quite good at that.
He's over 800 years old, and has the strange habit of speaking with the grammar inverted (like another 800-year old little guy we all know very well).

---

Grandma Lolita:

She's the elder and ruler of the Village our heroes live in. She's the best witch around and the one who trained Anna. She has the strange habit of accidentally looking into the future and ends up looking quiet mad at the eyes of most. But if one manages to decypher in her speech what really matters about the world's future, and what is about next week's laundry, one might gain awesome knowledge. Or not.

Grandma Lolita is also absurdly old. Some say she dated Welder back in the days. Just like with her pupil, people are just too afraid to ask her anything about it...

---

Rudy, "the Feather":

Rudy is a 19-year old professional thief. He calls himself "the Feather" and is quite good at sneaking up people, climbing roofs and that sort of thing. He's also got a pet rat, called Rat.

But Rudy has a problem. He suffers from a very peculair case of cleptomania. That makes him compulsory steal something from all places he enters, and he can ONLY steal invaluable and trivial objects. Between a golden chest and a pen, he will HAVE to get the pen. And let's just say that hinders his thief career a bit...

---

My oh my. Some deifinite Pratchettian influences up there (specially about Grandma). Not that it's a bad thing =P
