I haven't got to play around with it much... but what I have seen, yes is it diffrent.

But that is to be expected. I mean RM1, 2, and 3 have nothing in common as far as code is concerned. So, yeah... you will have to teach yourself how to use it.

I will never get over the front of the RM2 case: "No Experience Nesseccary!"

I think the best part is.. For ages 9 and up. I think they should put down for I.Q's 50 and up. XD

yeah, when I saw RPG Maker 2 and it said "No experience necessary" I was like "cool."

Then when I went to play it, I'm like "WTF are they talking about!?"

That's so wrong.. Well.. Honestly most of the people I met here are kinda smart. So I think they can give it a rough average.

Does the games have publish dates on them? Maybe we can go buy that to see when the next RPGmaker is due.

I think part of it is that Enterbrain was waiting to see which system would be the best choice. As far as the release dates of previous games, according to our Wiki:

Keeping in mind that there was another PS1 RPG Maker between RPGM1 and 2 that we didn't get (sometime before RPGM1's US release), and that RPGM3 isn't part of the main series in Japan. Also, I believe RPG Maker XP had its US release within a week or two of RPGM3's US release. So you never know how long it'll take for an RPGM to be released, although at least we can tell that our RPGM4 will come within a year of its Japanese release. RPGM1 only took three years to get a US release because nobody wanted to bring it over at first.


As far as RMXP goes, it's different, yes, but it's not as hard as RPGM2. At least so long as you use the default commands. It does have an actual programming code for more complex stuff, but that's entirely optional. The default stuff works well enough. And since it's a 2D RPG Maker, it isn't gonna use up a ton of your hard drive space.

Yes, I know what you mean about hoping RPG Maker 4 comes out some time soon.

Well, the fact that both the Pavilion and the Mag are undergoing lots of site improvements these days is something I'm using (I have no idea how on or off base I am with this) as a signal that some kind of announcement of some sort is coming out some time soon, but I have absolutely no idea. I'll just hold on to my wishful thinking, though.

It has to be released in Japan, first. And they don't have any more info on it than we do. At least as far as I know.

Sorry to break it to you, but the pav and mag upgrades have nothing to do with the next RPG Maker. I'm guessing that much like myself, Ixzion likes to do this kind of stuff in the beginning of the year to essentially get a fresh start on the new year.

What me and Ixzion know is VERY limited. What we know may very well no longer be true. We really don't know much more than you.

Besides... Is there any people who are RM users that AREN'T working on a game right now? Even if MR4 was out now, I wouldn't even touch it till I finished what I'm working on now...

Well I'm still battling out my problems with the game I'm making now. If there are any new improvements that might make my life easier then I just might start something new.
