Event Graphic Changes tend to be temporary. Is there a way to keep the change?

Example:
I have one of those lanterns, lit, by default. (I think it's object 14? Not sure.) When you check it, your character "Puts out" the light, and the screen darkens somewhat.
Change event graphic -> Unlit Lantern,
Screen change -> Color Change.
However, after the event ends it defaults to the lit lantern. What am I missing? I was thinking of taking over to another page, one where the graphic is normally the unlit lantern, but that doesn't seem to be working.

For that, you need to use a switch.

You see, Event Change Graphic IS very temporary. It just does changes the graphic until the event has done everything, then goes back.

In order to keep the effect, add a page behind the first page where that page (Page 2) has the Unlit Lantern graphic. And at the end of Page 1's events, add the switch.

A simple one would be:

Page 1:
Graphic:
Lit Lantern

Contents
Message: Blah blah.
Switch 001 On

Page 2:
Graphic:
Unlit Lantern

Page Conditions
Switch 001 On

Page Contents
Nothing.

Oh ho! Now I see. You have to use a switch to force it to stay on the second page...I see.
