What computer software programming language do you know, if you know one? You don't only have to mention a computer programming language, but you can also mention HTML, XML, XHTML, or CSS. If you don't know one, which one are you interested in?

Myself? I know C++. Not Visual C++ .Net though, but good ol' C++ for DOS processors.

I know HTML, CSS, some Javascript, some PHP, some MySQL.

The prospect of being able to create your own tags in XML/XHTML seems awesome, though.

I used to know some C++. Learned it the last Semester of High School. Forgot most of it, though.

I do have a few programming books of various skill levels. There's BASIC, C++, and I'm looking forward to Delphi, as that book specifically is tailored to game design.

I used to use Visual Basic 6.0, but then it couldn't do what I wanted to do. I didn't know, years ago, that all Basic was is a simplified version of C(++).

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also know XHTML, but I never use it. My website is set up by preprogrammed XHTML and CSS, so all I have to do is use a few clicks to do what I want done. Heh. All that knowledge for nothing, I guess.

After making use of this Liberty BASIC book for the first time, the difference between it and C++ are like night and day. Displaying "This is easy" only takes one line in BASIC, while you have to go through a few preparation steps to write anything in C++. Although this book gives me the impression that Liberty BASIC is best used for creating Windows applications than anything super special.

Liberty Basic? That must be the first time I've heard of it.

I remember when I started using Visual Basic 6.0, and I got a trial edition for Visual C++ .NET. The C++ was so much better -- I just couldn't do some things with Basic 6.0, so I found the open-language C++ to suffice.

But I'll have to check into that Liberty Basic now that you've mentioned it.

LB's free if you don't intend to make big programs and/or distribute them, free or otherwise. It also comes with the book "Beginning Programming for Dummies", though the version included in the book is out of date.

I'm not sure what the difference between each of the basics are, other than Visual being the most advanced vesion. The book says that Visual BASIC is a more structured version of basic BASIC.

Visual BASIC and BASIC are both run off of the DOS operator. Visual BASIC, though, is much better for running a Windows program because it has already input the code for the Windows so you don't have to worry about it when you begin.

Kinda' like how C++ can be used to program Windows applications (even the very windows themselves), but Visual C++ already has the code for the windows input, making it much easier all around.
