...is the name of my game. Yes, I know the title's too long. :XD



Prolougue:

In ancient times, there was a continent called Radia. But one day, it vanished off the face of the planet(sorta like Atlantis). Eventually, fact became legend, and most people thought it was only a myth or had never heard of it.


Characters:

Ken
The main character. His hometown was destroyed by Zenno(more on him later).

Max
Ken's friend. I may kill him off at some point in the game.

Ryan
An archaeologist/scholar/mage.

Susan
I don't know what to do with her yet, probably Ryan's sister. I may change the name. Oh, and she's a healer/white mage/whatever.

Lexus
A thief-like person. I'm not entirely sure what to do with him, but he's probably not going to get an important part.

Jen
A Radian. Unlike the above characters, I might not make her one of the main characters.


The story I have so far:
The game begins in a gladiator-colloseum-thing. The owner of the colloseum is Zenno, who destroys towns, enslaves the warriors to fight in the colloseum, and kills the rest.

Enter Ken. As he enters the arena, Zenno releases a monster from the other side. You then must fight it, which is fairly easy. Zenno is slighty surprised that Ken is still standing, and Ken must return to his cell.

When Ken gets back, he begins to talk to his cellmate Max, and reminisces(did I spell that right?) about his hometown of Cora being destroyed.

[Cue flashback]
As Ken enters the town of Cora, it is on fire, to put it bluntly. He runs up to a mysterious man(Zenno). Zenno remarks that there were no other warriors in the town, and he thought he ended up burning it for nothing. He then hits Ken with a lightning bolt and knocks him out.
[End flashback]

Several seconds later, Ken and Max hear a voice. They go to the other side of the cell and see a ghostly image of a woman. She says something about Radia being in danger and she will help them escape if they agree to help her. Max says that they have never heard of Radia, but the mysterious woman says that everything will be explained if they decide to help her. So Ken and Max agree and the image of a woman becomes a ladder that goes up to a vent/hole/thing. At the other end of the vent is a passage with a few monsters in it, but not too hard. At the other end of the passage is a room with Lexus in it(he joins your party later in the game, but not now). He is also an escaped prisoner/warrior, but he escaped by himself, and has never heard of the ghostly woman before.

Anyways, there is a door in the room that leads outside. Ken and Max must navigate through a small forest without being seen by the guards. At the end of the forest is a cliff, and the Ken and Max realize the the island the Colloseum and fortress are on is actually floating in midair, high above the ocean. A few seconds later, a mysterious knight in black armor walks up behind them. He says the second-stupidest bad-guy-line in history(I won't spoil it now unless you ask me too) and introduces himself as Alex. He says he works for Zenno and is to kill them(Though I may make him turn out to actually be a good guy later). In the battle that ensues, it's impossible to win. He then knocks you of the edge of the floating island.

Ken awakes in a village called Dharma, with Max nowhere in sight(This is as far as I've got in my game. The rest is what I want to put in it, and may change). Dharma is a farming village on the mainland, nested in a small area between the Dharman mountains and the coast. The pass through the mountains to the rest of the continent is full of dangerous monsters, and nobody can pass without Mayor Arbro's permission. When Ken goes to the mayor, he tells Ken that he may go through if he defeats the monster that raids the crops every few nights. But he refuses to let Ken go alone, if he finds another warrior in the village, he may go. Enter Ryan. He explains to Ken about Radia, and agrees to help him slay the monster. So they head up the mountains, defeat the monster, and get permission from the mayor to pass through the pass. However, in a cave they must pass through, there is a cave-in, and the exit is blocked. However, the cave-in also opens up a new path, which leads to mysterious ruins, with Radian(according to Ryan) writing on the entrance.




I'll think of the rest when I get that far.

The story sounds okay so far, but I think the names are unimaginative.

Also, to help you make a better game, try to avoid, or at least give a fresh twist to, these RPG cliches:

Because Radia was supposedly only a legend for centuries, and suddenly two people find ancient Radian ruins(albeit on a seperate continent).


...Okay, the title's a work in progress. I was hoping I'd eventually find something better.

Arturi
Saffron
Shea
Vannis
Mr T
Daemantu (possibly evil)
etc.

take existing names and twist them, or make something up. Its more fun than you'd think. Oh, wait it's not actually, but you have to do it anyway.
