I think Gay2Play, as silly as it is, fits. I have a ton to say about this. Bioware is one of the most LGBTQ-oriented companies, but that's by no means a pass for them on doing the bare minimum like they like to. Well, you'll see in the podcast. But yeah... I guess Bioware wants nothing but normalcy! Pay to be a freak! That, or more likely than not- they have taken such a loss with TOR that adding any content new would be locked behind that for sheer business, not necessarily an insult to LGBTQ, but as a bad financial decision.

Though, some interesting food for thought. TOR has some of the worst F2P practices(and that was before this). I suggest looking into those! There's plenty to be found on Google. Get some even more crappy backdrop from this(I have followed it from the beginning since Bioware was so cocky about this MMO, and claimed it to be a WoW killer and this and that). See how fast they had to go to F2P.

Also, imagine a game where you have to pay for a gender. Or, have to pay to even use a class you wanted. Essentially, that's what this is about- they had straight relationships in their game at launch(fans begged them to change and level the field a bit), but nothing happened. Also, interesting to note that FFXIV and Squeenix are treating their GLBTQ portion of their audience just as crappily. It kinda sucks especially in TOR though, since relationships are a major part of most any Bioware game.

Incidentally, our podcast host will take one more this month(I had to upload 11 episodes in one month, so that kinda dampened the space for the month). So, Episode 12 will more than likely be the last January upload there at least. In light of this, and for personal reasons and responsibilities- the podcast will resume next week. So there's nothing for this weekend. I just don't have time to edit much for a short while, and I don't wanna get sloshed into a backlog of editing again. Feb should be business as usual. I apologize for this, but we're currently working on moving out completely from our apartment, so we have to get a lot done.

Update: A note about MagCast 12- this will be up before February 1st. It will be the last episode of January, and then the upload cap resets.

It's a lengthy read, but a good one. At least they're trying I suppose(don't even get me started on Blizzard, cause they dismissed a super cool lesbian asking a question at their last Blizzcon as to why Azeroth didn't seem to have a single gay character)... but they could be doing so much more. I know we're not podcasting til Saturday, and we have a lot as is- but there's also the very cool case of the Sylvari in Guild Wars 2. Their faction hero of sorts has a super involved gay relationship with another plant woman. It's very cool, and some parts of the pre-release novel for the game were absolutely chilling. Sylvari as a race in general do not see gender, and they think it's more important to connect from the mind. They also cannot reproduce- since they bud from a plant. Regardless, it is cool to see a starting zone quest where you help a gay couple, and the fact that a faction hero/leader is gay herself.

I had edited the last post, but I feel this deserves an actual update.

Episode 12 will be released January 31st. I apologize for the delay, but we're still experiencing heavy cases of drama and turbulence at home, and have a lot to do in a short period... stuff has gotten ultimate shake-up status. ...Long story short it sucks. Really bad on multiple fronts.

Episode 13 will be up next! That will be in the first week of February. Episode 14(which will be recorded this weekend, hell or high water), will be up later that same week, and we will be up to schedule.

In terms of content, the Bioware controversy hasn't been covered yet since we focused on the Nintendo direct in Episode 13. Other stuff can certainly be brought up.

For RPG Maker Minute, we have the contest results from the Halloween thing, and also a new contest on the horizon(I know me, Duel, and Dray are entering). Just a little board-leaping-off-point- if people on are working on anything RPGM related, bring it up! It's good stuff.

First, some technical stuff. Apologies for not getting the episode on Youtube yet- I ended up being out all of last night. Sunday looks like the ticket for that(probably in the morning), since I have stuff to do today, recording today's episode, and the Mag Anniversary.

Secondly, Podhoster should reset our cap(it's a big one) on February 9th. So there's that. After February, we'll be back on track with uploading since there won't be a huge backlog to contend with vying for space. There's lots of space! Just that we have 30 MB left... and at the lowest amount, we usually hit 60 MB with a show. But this is fine! It will work out. Until then, I will just upload Episode 13 to Youtube only so people don't have to wait regardless of me not setting this up a long time ago. I wanted to make sure we had an interest before committing to buying some space and making this a real thing.

On to today! MAGVERSARY. The skeletal shownotes are super skeletal. I think we definitely need to focus on some of our site history though, our LPs, our thoughts on what we've done, and the future of what we can accomplish with v6(as Ixz deems fit to reveal information, of course).

Last we heard from our video game making accessible crew, there are some valid criticisms towards the company that while they're making the gaming space more acceptable, there's still a LONG way to go.

Basically, the Defense of Marriage Act is a piece of garbage. It basically bans gay marriage explicitly. That's all it ever set out to do, really. EA has joined the Human Rights Campaign in order to fight this, and even the man that signed this in- Bill Clinton- has changed his thoughts on it since. My two cents/summary.
If we proceed on this, I'd like people to do some barebones research at the very least, to understand the situation. I posted the basics, but there's much, much more. It's an issue actually affecting civil liberties right now, so I feel it's something to not be swept around as a joke topic.

I'm leaning towards the PS3 topic personally. While the EA story took an interesting twist, it is not out of character of them to support LGBTQ rights. Many of their employees fall under that particular umbrella as well, and they joined the "It Gets Better" campaign a long, long time ago. And had angry fanboys rave that they were forcing them to be gay.

After one of those two though, if people have anything that'd be good- doesn't matter- so don't feel pressured. There's some interesting stuff going on with the new Fire Emblem game as well we could touch on, with its emphasis on love! And February for Valentine's Day.

Lastly, the Mag Anniversary. The meat of the podcast. The thing that the potatoes just kinda go around, let alone the carrots in this stew.

This weekend should be interesting. Editing weekend. Though hopefully I'm not sick... cause if I got something bad enough here, I'll have to go to the hospital and that would suck. Luckily, insofar it's been more cold/flu-like.

The upload limit resets today, so that will be nice. And, my Windows laptop hinge broke somehow in normal use(TY asus), so I need to finish rescuing my Vegas templates and such. This is relevant for the Youtube updates.

WHERE IS IT

Well, basically the upload just reset on Feb 9th, I believe. So... now it's a matter of one more month of some batch updates, but after this we should be fine. I uploaded 12 episodes last month, so basically after this the weekly space is enough.

I do apologize though. Mainly because I didn't just get space to begin with a long time ago- but rest assured- files are safe, everything is good.

Okay. So I described what happened in off-topic, but I'll reiterate here.

We need to change hosts. Rather, I do. Why? I basically got told that it was my fault for expecting a monthly plan to actually have an upload cap that resets over time... even though they pretty much presented it that way. In earnest, I think that it might be cool to host them here and I need to ask if this is possible first. If not, I have a backup host that costs a little more, but their site at least explicitly says there's monthly space over time. The current host told me to go and delete files to continue updating.

That being said- episodes 12-15 of the podcast will be on Youtube by Friday. Youtube is now our primary thing again, mainly since I got screwed over- and we have no other choice right now. After we can get a new host somehow, I will fix the iTunes to that.

Sorry for any inconvenience, etc. Seriously. I dropped the ball here. And I did so as well on editing during crisis time. I don't want this to happen again, ever.
