Do we have a quick-hits or outline? I was thinking of bringing a few subjects in like my GOTY. I know we're not gonna cover everything from now on but it would be good to have a few confirmed topics.

EDIT (I do this a lot, don't I): I'm not entirely sure that I'll make it. If I had a magic 8ball it would probably say most likely.

Next episode has no guideline really, free-for-all haha. I'm thinking present hauls, GOTYay will probably come up, New Year's stuff, things!

Seriously s'good stuff. Alcohol not banned, either- I understand some people may wish to partake. Though I couldn't like... break into your house and stop you anyways, ya sillies.

Still working out iTunes details and stuff. I already mentioned why though, with the whole making sure I don't mess up so we get approved thing.

If I can't make it I would like for everyone to have a blast. Also, my story of 2012 would be crowd funding, namely Kickstarter.

GET WELL! That was a great show, surprised that Thutmose was on. But, uh, am I the only person here that thinks Donkey Kong Country Return is incredible!? I'm glad you all agree that CoD is a PoS. B-b-but, Donkey Kong!

I think DKCR is okay. It's not a bad game, but I just think DKC1-3 are better... and no one will probably go back to those from playing Nintendoland. Though, it's the same way I feel about NSMB series. It's more sterile, and that kinda sucks. They're starting to break that with NSMB Wii U. Baby Yoshi doesn't feel like a huge deal, but they add greatly varied personality to the game. And the world map being there is a lot better, with the little events you can do. I just hope DKCR gets the proper treatment with a sequel, cause the environments were gorgeous and all that, but I just wanted even an option to just not use motion controls in a platformer. I absolutely don't mind them with Zelda, but the platformer thing makes me feel like meh with it for some reason. But Nintendoland centers around motion, DKCR centers around motion and is the most recent Wii title people could slam into a WiiU, so I figured that'd be the one a kid is going to be like "Oh, I wanna play this!" and all that.

There were only two problems that stopped DKCR from being one of the greatest games ever: the shoe-horned controls and how unbelievably sterile it was. The base game is extremely solid but it's kind of like having an unpainted BMX bike. It does the job, but it doesn't FEEL stylish. The levels are extremely generic (Jungle, Factory, etc) when the previous games had dedicated themes. The original DKC had a Jungle level, but it was called Jungle Hijinks, not "Jungle", I mean, did they not have an idea of what to call it? The enemies are painfully generic from top to bottom. Not a single enemy can I remember from that game. I don't have a desire to go back and replay the game, but I thought it was a good buy.

Huh, I understand your guys' complaints and please don't read this as if I'm up in arms with pitchforks. Maybe I'm looking at the game with a different perspective.

To me this one of the best platformers I've played in a loong time. It captures the soul and framework of DKC and the platforming genre. If I had to describe the SNES triology as a whole, I would say this; a series of games with brilliant level design, satisfactory difficulty, and with beautiful worlds. That's what DKCR is. It embodies what made the other three games so incredible and the result is a DKC game at its rawest form. Its amazing because of its overall design.

Yeah, there no kremlings, animal buddies, or other classic kongs but I honestly can look past all that and see this game as platforming bliss. And to me its stylish because that.

I love these games, and even if DKCR is okay, at least Retro was successful at making it enjoyable.

It's also worth mentioning that getting rid of K. Rool, the kremlings, and all the other Kongs destroys any hope of actually feeling like a real DKC title.

Eh, I dunno, I apologize for even bringing this up considering it had nothing to do with the podcast. Its crazy, those are all valid complaints, I understand, but I just feel this game is
Very underrated. I don't play the DKC series for its enemy set, I play it for the platforming, the gameplay, arguably the most important feature. And DKC delivered that in spades, which is why I consider it a real DKC game.

Again, different perspectives, but its just a video game. I hope there's no bad blood between us. :\

PG found this really cool story on BBC, and I'm putting it on the table as something for this week in addition to Sony. I wanted to post the article WAY in advance though, so people can organize thoughts if they want.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20931304

Basically, a Chinese father hired virtual "hitmen" to kill his 23-year-old son's avatars in various online video games to discourage him from his game addiction. It's pretty interesting of a concept, but also a pretty unique way of handling something like this.

Edit: Also. I can't wait for you all to hear the segment bumps. I think you're going to at least like one in particular.:)

And an update on the feed front. And stuff. Basically, priority one is editing episode 11(the one we just recorded). After I'm done with that, I am going to be moving and uploading all our stuff to a lovely RSS feed that you will just love I know it. Or something. At least if you're like me, you can take the podcast to the gym, or in the car, or whatever with much more convenient MP3 downloads.

Edit 2: I figure until I get everything iTunes ready, it's not worth a bump post. I'm working on getting everything ready now, and basically episodes are definitely going to hit the RSS/site feed way faster than Youtube. I figure this is fine anyways, cause that way I can deliver the MP3 and not have to render it twice- once to get the MP3, and once in Vegas(the Vegas render takes 30-35 minutes alone). Podhoster seems like a GREAT service. It suits our needs, and that is one-hour per week shows. It is also iTunes ready from the get-go(yay I could mark us explicit easily).

Our new name? RPGM MagCast. I did this because we needed something short, and something to kinda denote us aside from MagCast. I have changed our image to reflect this since we'll be on iTunes soon. I think Episode 11 is our BEST episode yet. We've gotten into a sort of flow where it just works. The RPG Maker segment is also nice, because it's something that everyone here knows about- and it sets us apart from other general video game podcasts, even if it's just a little bit.

So yeah!

Big News.

We have the RSS feed all set up! That is located here:
http://rpgmmagcast.podhoster.com/

Episode #11 is up on our feed! Check that out. It will hit Youtube tomorrow.

Lastly... we're on iTunes now! :) You can put us on an actual iPod. Wow! You can leave a review if you have an account. You can do whatever!
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/rpg ... d592747737
(I know it has the wrong cover image for some reason, but I did re-upload on the feed just in case. So hopefully it will update in a few hours).

Also, a note. We have 90 MB left for the month... so that's about one episode(and that's if we keep within time limit). This is a small problem for now, however, the cap gets reset in February I believe. I uploaded 11 episodes in a day, so once we even out next month this will not be a problem any more. Just giving the heads up!

Congrats on getting on iTunes, I'm not sure what kinda stuff you have to do but I imagine Apple doesn't let every podcast get accepted. I'll leave a review and help you guys out, good jooorb

Thanks Duel!

I'm glad I got episode 11 up on the feed. We're having a family emergency right now, and as such, I haven't had the time nor energy to upload 11 to Youtube on a video yet. Going to do that tomorrow, but I think one day late isn't so bad.

Also, remember that we are recording tomorrow, 4PM EST/3 PM CST/1 PM PST. Insultobot should be back! YAY. It's been dreary round this podcast without his shining beacon of a radio voice.

Insultobot said that if we could have it an hour earlier, that would help him a lot because his wife made plans. I'm free for that. What about y'all?

Thanks Ix.

Yes and sorry. I should be able to make it either way, but I wouldn't be pressured to end it early if we start an hour early.

I haven't even edited Episode 12 yet, but I have a correction. Fennec isn't Latin for fox, it's a type of fox. Though, Nintendo has already used the latin for fox naming convention with Vulpix.:)

Anyways, Episode 11 will be uploaded tonight on Youtube, and it has been on the feed for a while now. I will be rendering/uploading it while I clean.

EDIT: Episode 11 is on Youtube now as well!

I got a news story:

Bioware is under fire for a gay planet behind a paywall in Star Wars: The Old Republic

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2 ... tto-planet

Quote:
EA and Bioware have come under pressure from both sides for the introduction of same-sex relationships to the Star Wars MMO The Old Republic.

The new options to romance "companion" NPCS will be restricted to one planet, itself part of the content only available to paying customers rather than those taking advantage of the game's free-to-play sections, upsetting both those who campaigned for and against their inclusion.

I figured some would have things to say about this.

Also, Dray mentioned calling the episode "Bioware's Being Gay".
