Nice! Glad to hear about the internet better-ness!

So, our next show is RIGHT before New Year's! HOLIDAY MAGCAST

We'll be keeping the same notes, but everyone that can make it- make it! Holiday party for the Magcast, since basically the whole recording all-in-one thing worked out. There's no limit to the amount of people who can join!

This will happen THIS Sunday, December 30th, 2012.

The time is 3 PM EST, 12 PM PST, and 2 PM CST.

Bring your Holiday haul list, cookies, booze, wonderment, and cheer, yo.

Hopefully I can be there on the 30th, then, but, a certain lab supervisor has utterly failed to let me know ahead of time that a coworker is taking vacation on the 30th, so I may be screwed into covering for him spontaneously.

Out of all things to bring if I do make it, though, I shall be sure to bring wonderment to the magcast, for they do not call me Frisby Toe-bells for nothing.

I'm actually going to be on the road for most of Sunday. I'll be driving home from Lantis' place at around noon and I won't be back until about 6pm CST.

Well, huh. I'll be gone most of Saturday... Would Monday work for people? That's New Year's Eve, but we'd be recording as soon as people got home from work(should people be working).

I realize though, that we're probably never going to have a time where everyone on the Mag can get on.

So tentatively, it'd be like from 6 PM EST(3 PM PST/5 PM CST) and go for an hour. I am planning on cooking(many cookies and some appetizers) and spending some quality time on New Year's Eve, but I don't mind scrapping out an hour to do that.

Hmm, I think I'll be able to make it on Monday, I guess. Well, bleh, I'll probably get the day off on Monday its just that doing the Magcast on a weekday is sorta weird. But I do understand we're all busy people with our own obligations. I won't be too busy this weekend, I do plan on going to a get-together on New Years Eve (way past 3PM and I will be very drunk later that night) but aside from that it will be a peaceful three day weekend.

Edit: ill be there!

Awesome Duel.

I understand if some people can't make Monday either though. I just think it's kinda fitting we have Ixz here for this since without him, we wouldn't have the community holiday thing at all... cause no community.:P

Oh, totally, I didn't mean that we should start without Ix, I hope I didn't give that sort of vibe.

You did not!

I also have an idea for our format. No, it's nothing huge. I promise!

We're going to be on iTunes soon!(Hopefully, barring any tech/application issues.)

So we have an issue. Magcast, as we joked around earlier about, is a super common name. There's even an app for that(pun intended). As a result, we need a different name for our feed/iTunes, if we stand a chance of being recognizable(very important), and/or even accepted(iTunes may give a hard time and whatnot).

So here's what I was thinking of as name options:
RPG Maker Magazine MagCast
RPG Maker MagCast
RPGMMAGcast

I think the last one is maybe the best choice, since short and sweet is good to eat. So if no one objects, I'll probably go with that when I sign up tonight.

Two, the format change- more casual form stuff. I find half the pleasures of listening to other podcasts to just be casual chatter. Not necessarily form-based discussion- meaning, ramblings are fun to listen to. I consume quite a few hours a week to podcasts(including editing this one! I kid, I kid). So I was thinking what we could do was cut down the quick news hits further, since most any other huge news outlet is going to do a lot of those- and we can't possibly cover everything gaming anyways in like 20 minutes. Pick out our favorites, and do those. Or if something is SUPER HUGE. But the whole trying to cover the full gamut of game news bit is getting a bit tedious and hard- and while I think we as a community do have something major to add there, I think v6 and the article system is going to nail that. In that format, we can cover a ton of game news. We can do some nice articles as a community. We can make this site blossom to full potential. But just not in such a short time on a podcast, and it sometimes gets the flow of the conversation all stilted and odd and stuff.

Going along with that idea, I feel we do not need a huge topic for each show, lest we become "On this very special episode of the MagCast" kinda deal. It's fun to talk about stuff like the Wii U launch and all that, or about how we hate DRM, but going into like social issues and stuff isn't going to be the forte I don't think. I think our community can handle it, but it would take a lot of lengthy research and proper thought to discuss certain things involving coverage of things like representation in games. They're great topics, ones I'm passionate about(especially getting more queer characters into games where they totally fit), but even with me being gay, that could turn into a term paper... or even a freaking dissertation with that. Expect some articles from me about that on v6 eventually, but just not in the show.

Coming back on-topic, I really think we shine the brightest when we just... talk. Like about what we're doing in a given week. About general gaming stuff. Most weeks we'll probably have some semblance of a main topic, but I've noticed something else- some of the quick hits end up creating so much discussion that they could be a main topic. So if something like that happens, with the fluidity of the stream- I can say... just take out a main topic and let us finish with a particular quick hit since people are interested. Stuff like that. Essentially, it'd be merging quick hits and the main topic into just one huge news segment.

Also, since we're RPG Maker- I think it'd be cool to try and work in a bit of that into each episode. I think a great starting off point(If Dray doesn't mind), would be to talk about Dray's current RPGM LP, if one is going on. You don't have to know a ton, but kinda watch a couple episodes and get the gist. Or heck, don't watch at all and chime in by working off of others' reactions. Or even just talking about some of our site history, who we are, or previous projects you've worked/are working on, and stuff like that. PC is welcome, but console makers have such a rich history that they deserve even more archive-ness. Let's give some love up. I imagine we'll eventually be stuck on PC RPGM, but that community is actively growing a ton(especially with Ace now on Steam, and on sale right now to boot.)
I know we're moving away from solely RPGM, but since the game vault on the site has been given a lot of TLC in v6, and that's kinda what we were originally about- I think it will help to set us apart to at least mention it more often. Especially the console maker stuff, since people have chosen to pretty much ignore it in the PC RPGM community.

So the new show format would be something like this.

*Sup Mag?
*Free Play(Quirky gaming stories, or fun media)
*Quick Hits(So we can just roll this into the main topic if need be)
*Main Topic(If there is one)
*RPGMM Minute(something about RPG Maker)
*Questions
*Closing/Plugs-r-us

I'm also thinking of maybe making some bumps and stuff to denote each show segment. I'd just play the file on my computer live. Like, "Hey, I think it's time for some Quick Hits" *fighting game noises* *victory noise*... then I just go into it like normal. It's my bad for not getting us some bumps made earlier on, but I really think it kinda helps bring a listener back in with a familiar clip to denote a certain show segment.

Sorry for the lengthy amount of thoughts! I just really care about this, I care about the craftsmanship, I care about the show and community in general.

Just let me know what you think.:)

Plugs-R-Us is good for me to plug your mom.

But that all sounds like good stuff. I should start listening more, but I've been lazy about it. Probably because I don't hear any of myself in them! >.>

Show up yo! I missed you, and I'm sure other people have too. Plus, numbers are a bit less of an issue since I changed the editing style.:P (Thanks be.)

Yeah, I should definitely be able to handle Monday. Plus I'll be off on Tuesday so I can recover and whatnot.

Also, what about RM MagCast?

I'm up for the new format. I listen to podcasts all the time and most of them are conversations with the main topic sprinkled in. A podcast, imo, is at it's best when the speakers are sitting back, having fun, and enjoying the time on the mic.

Absolutely! I listen to a WoW-centric podcast(but they're nowhere near covering every single update in-depth, which is just dandy to me), Retsutalk, and a couple other podcasts. While the main topic is nice, I absolutely agree that if you're having fun, your audience is having fun, too. Well aside from a couple downers who say crap like "Why can't podcast hosts be more like robots" or something with info. Boo to that! The news would be one big snowball instead of the old format, and that way stuff is super bendy. Like a bendy straw.

Does anyone else have input on the name? I gotta pick one out for our feed/iTunes.:P
I like RM Magcast, too. I also think RPGM Magcast works as well(that's actually what our name is right now in the xml metadata, heh).

Shame MagCast is so common! But this will be for the best. I'll more than likely rename the Youtube videos/playlist as well.

I'm not good at naming things. RPGM Magcast gets my vote, so does RPG Maker Magcast. That one is pure and simple and won't confuse anyone. Unless someone is expecting an entire convo about the PC Makers

Definitely a part of the reason I am leaning towards a shortening. I know none of the files aren't going away with v6, but I don't want people to think we're only about RPG Maker either. That's something that the PC community already has a podcast for.

Do we have a quick-hits or outline? I was thinking of bringing a few subjects in like my GOTY. I know we're not gonna cover everything from now on but it would be good to have a few confirmed topics.

EDIT (I do this a lot, don't I): I'm not entirely sure that I'll make it. If I had a magic 8ball it would probably say most likely.
