Is it a party for 5 people or a party where we bring number 5s?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one like "What the...?" at that. I went to a couple ballets with the lady, and while they were good, put the junk away, man. Even though most of them are more than likely gay so it's all good haha.

I'm still recovering after Thanksgiving. It's a lot less fun when you have to cook everything, haha. It was fun though. I'm a bit cold-sick but I figured it'd happen eventually.

I can honestly say that it wasn't their junk I was appreciating.

And google hangouts indeed rock. I just wish they'd fix the problems I've been having with my internetz. Signal keeps going up and down every few mins. :/

I know that feeling! I got lucky during the race. No disconnects, not even once.:)

Google Hangout was being very annoying last night when we had about 9 or 10 people in there. Everything was lagging so bad for me that I just had to leave.

I have the feeling that's what caused my disconnects one night. I dunno if it's Google or what, but if there's more than 4 other people in there I usually start to have problems.

You know, if Puerto Rico really does become the 51st state, we could just combine North and South Dakota into Super Dakota and be spared the trouble of making a new flag.

And with all this talk about having a 51st state, I think we should make 53 the goal.

Actually, guys, I really have to document this one here. This may sound silly, but I was just so taken aback at what happened I can't help but feel the people involved are most worthy of commendation. I was at the doughnut shop just a while ago on my way back from work, right? Well, naturally, after working all night I was hungry, so you can imagine how let down I felt when - surprise - I found that the shop owners DIDN'T OWN A DEBIT CARD READER. (What business on this planet DOESN'T accept debit cards as payment these days? I just feel there is scarcely a reason to carry cash around, anymore.) Well, this was right after I had already gathered the comestible together, so all I could do was politely apologize for the trouble and turn to leave, without a delicious apple fritter at my disposal this time. And right there, as I turned to go, one guy stood up from the table he was at and said, "How much do you need?" (He obviously overheard the whole thing.) I was so stunned at this sudden gesture of kindness that the shop owner spoke up for me and answered his question. So the guy just pulls out four dollars right there and hands it to me. I'm like, "Um, sir, I can't pay you back." (At least not immediately, because, after all, the reason i was trying to use a debit card in the first place was because I did not carry around cash in my wallet.) And he just says to not worry about it. Even more shocking, what I owed was five dollars, so another guy who was in line behind me just pulls out another one dollar bill and cheerfully hands it to me. Holy cow! All I wanted was some doughnuts, and two guys right there were willing to help me pay for it without wanting anything at all in return! It's not like I was even in a desperate situation of any kind; it was just over some friggin' doughnuts. I must say, the spirit of the Christmas season indeed lay in these two gentlemen.

So, lesson for the day: If you ever feel like giving up on humanity, thinking that all kindness and decency is lost and the entire race is hopeless ... don't. There is still plenty of good in the world.

... I mean, crap, I still can't believe that happened ....

I probably laughed at that way more than I should have.

@SK - The reason why a company like that doesn't have a card reader is because for those transactions to happen, they actually are charged by the company that handles wireless transactions and funding per transaction. And when you have a business that has many many transactions at VERY low amounts, they can actually end up losing more money that it's worth to even have the business to begin with.

I can understand why they do it, but it still sucks.

OH BOY. THE MAG IS BACK.

Duel, my post in your mic topic got eaten. In summary:

-Blue Yeti is so worth it.

-Use the Cardioid setting on the actual mic, it's a knob. There's like no documentation and it's super easy to use.

-Find a good setting for you on the gain knob on it.

-I hope you don't have noisy neighbors(I have many cars since we're by the highway), it tends to pick up a lot of background noise cheaper mics wouldn't- but the Cardioid setting gets rid of a ton of it. It's a side effect of the good mic quality.

-It comes with a stand, but it's a desk stand so it's prone to shocks and mic bumps. I recommend the $25 On-Stage stand from Amazon, instead of buying the official $75 Blue mic shock accessory.

-I also recommend recording commentary separately from gameplay audio with it. It can pick up a lot of noise, but the overall quality is amazing. It helps to have it separate to get rid of white noise.

I also think I've fixed the internet. We'll see, but we went out and bought a new modem yesterday. It's DOCSIS 3.0 or whatever, so that supposedly helps to smooth out streams more. I know it was probably overkill, but it seems pretty future-proof and our modem was apparently from like 2005 or something... and it was totally dying slowly since it worked upon every recycle. Time Warner was actually super nice, and they don't require a $50 service call to activate a MAC address like Comcast forced me to do back in my old apartment.

We're considering the merits of also upgrading our internet service level, but I dunno if we will yet.

Just so we're clear, I thought I'd mention this once so I don't have to repeat it a thousand times in this thread: I had a cheese sandwich for dinner. (There, I said it)

If you don't believe me, that's YOUR problem. Not mine.
