I got the wires unsoldered. I'm lengthening some of them now.

Here is a picture of the guts of Kupid all by themselves. These make up 95% of the cost:

It turns out that although all these third-party ones that I have look identical, they have different circuit boards. :P

I managed to find one that uses a similar circuit board, so I'm going to try unsoldering & soldering the wires in now.

Ouch. Hello, unwanted complications. *wonders if a clear Kupid is still a possibility*

I just got all the wires soldered in. I tested it, and Kupid works fine. ^_^

Here's a pic of the new first production model:

Now I need to update the code a bit, and get everything put into the case. Should get it finished up today.

EDIT:

Well, this clear unit works. But the others have different designs that aren't as easy to work with. I have lots of different kinds of controller models, so I'll open them up and see if any of the others might be better for future units.

Ultimately, I think, I'll just have to deal with different kinds of models manually altering the design to suit each one. :\

Oh well. :P

Had some school work to attend to, so I didn't get it finished yesterday. I finished ironing out the problems in the code today, and got everything put in place in the bottom portion of the case. I just need to glue in the PS\2 jack, close up the case, and it should be ready to go. Though I am worried about getting the PS\2 jack secured such that it doesn't come loose with repeated plugging & unplugging of the keyboard. EDIT: I may include a special extension cable with Kupid, and glue it in place. It would prevent the PS/2 jack from coming loose.

That extension sounds like it'll be the best way to go. Even if somehow it managed to get loose, it would still be functional.

The jack is glued in, now, and it actually seems pretty secure. I'll let people choose whether or not they want the extension - it will add $2 more to the price.

But... the first Kupid production model is DONE! Pics below.

It's all tested and works fine. ^_^ I just need to get the address from Ix and whatnot, then I can send it.

I need to fill in all the technical details in the wiki, which will include a lot more detailed info (I might release the source code, too; to make Kupid completely open-source).

:jimp

The clear one's really do look awesome. If I had my choice in the matter, I'd go with it. If you think the PS2 port is fine the way it is, then I'm good with that. Even if it did fall in, I could easily fix that myself.

I still have more clear ones - just let me know what colors you want - blue, red, or green.

The jack seems fine, so as long as you don't shove the connector in real hard. I think that if you're gentle with it, then you shouldn't have any problems.

In that case, I call dibs on green. I have no idea what SK wants... or even if he wants a clear one or not, so it's whatever for him. Let me know when you are accepting payments, and I'll be sure to get that to you.

My pants just exploded.

I'll try to get some footage of myself using the device for great justice.

I can confirm the following:

KUPID is awesome.
KUPID DOES work on a PS1.
I would kill a man for a KUPID character buffer.

Well worth the $45.
