Well, it's done. A few of you guys whom talk to me on Live, in the chat, or elsewhere may know that I've been looking for a house. This is my first time going through all the motions of purchasing a home, and it's been very confusing and quite uncomfortable. But has been relitively painless. And now... I have one. I just got my Good Faith Estimate and know approximately what I'll be paying in closing costs. I've already hired and inspector, and the house is in really good shape. Any issues I can fix myself with little effort. Big thanks to Insultobot for giving me a crap ton of advice to help wade me into the process. Now comes the fun part of actually paying down payments, closing costs, ect. I'mma 'bout to lose a crapton of money. YAY. Then there's the whole moving process... which I've always hated. But on the bright side, I shouldn't be moving again for a very very long time.

Anyway, here's the new crib.

And with that out of the way, I still have to worry about June 19th. Which is when I'm to be married. And there's a lot to be said about this. A good number of you remember how I was a good number of years ago... towards women and relationships. So I kind of have quite a bit to answer for seeing as I'm about to tie the knot. And to that I say that I still hold my original opinion of relationships as true. Everything that I've ever said, I still believe quite well. I still believe most relationships are doomed before they even begin. And I still feel like way too many people believe that relationships are manditory when they aren't. And I still feel as though anyone can be just as happy single as in a relationship (if not even more happy). I feel as though, in my case, I just got really lucky. She's so much different from stereotypical woman... at least to me. And I'm actually quite looking forward to settling down with her in our new home.

It's a few years old, but here's a pic.

A lot is changing in my life right now, and while it's been mostly good, it's still a good deal stressful getting everything in motion and taken care of. I know this doesn't affect you guys that much, but I wanted to share this turning point in my life with all of you anyways.

Is she intentionally posing similar to the poster behind her?

You know, I'm not really sure. I'll have to ask her later. Though that poster is really a painting that she painted quite a while ago. And she still paints now... unforunately her latest one being of freaking Lady Gaga. I don't enjoy staring at it.

'grats on getting the house, and it doesn't look too shabby at all. A bit odd with half of it being brick and the other half wood, but who cares if the interior is excellent.

The non-brick side used to be a single car garage. It was converted to a second living room (or family room, according to the previous owner). You can see in the picture on the far right, a part of the two car garage that was added on after the original garage conversion (and have a driveway paved to it). It makes it quite a bit more roomie... and I have plenty of room for parking if I have a few people over.

This is the same thing that every man says and thinks about HIS woman. You know where I'm coming from.

I'm not saying Rachael isn't what you say, but this is when you need to look at her the most. As always, if I see any shenanigans, I'm gonna give it to you straight.

That said, congratulations on the house and the (almost) wife.

Yeah, I know exactly how that sounds. But I'd like to think that because of the way I've treated relationships up till now, I'd be able to tell the difference between one that is different and one that just acts different.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting this all said and done with. These things have been keeping me up at night for quite some time now. At least I'm absolutely sure this is what I want.

Well, it's done. I have a new (and rather empty) house. SK will be coming down this weekend and help me move. I'm going to be real busy between then and now getting addresses changed, utilities turned on or moved, ect. I'm getting a locksmith to come re-key the locks just because I'm like that. We bought it from a grandmother. And I think just about everyone has a key to their grandmother's house. I probably won't be moving anything in until after that (which hopefully will be today). I'll also be needing to buy a fridge, washer, and drier soon. Luckily, Home Depot is within walking distance of the new house. I would have probably gotten most of the stuff I needed to do done before now if it wasn't for the fact that I closed 2:30 on friday. By the time all the paperwork was done, I only had like... two hours to get as much done before everything closed for the weekend.

I'll be sure to get pics up before I move a lot in.

Sweet! if it's cheaper, you could buy a bunch of locks at HomeDepot and they can rekey them to all be the same on the spot for like five dollars. Just a thought.

Now is the time to claim a room as your mancave. Do it swiftly before the Mrs. turns it into a guest bedroom with its own set of towels.

And happiness in your marriage. (as long as you keep thinking the way you do it will work out fine.)

Thanks! And now... pics!

Image

The front of the house is in the first post. Here's the back.

Image

Here's the backyard. As it turns out, I have three utility sheds. I'm going to be hard pressed to get all of them full. It took me a while, but I cleaned them all out rather well. The lady that left had a bunch of junk in there. And her husband, who has passed away, had a bunch of stuff in there... like:

Image

The dude made his own rounds for his 38. Unfortunately, I don't think he left the gun, but I found his little kit he used for his ammo. In this pic, you can see the empty shells, the actual led bullets, and gunpowder. I have no idea what to do with it, but I'm keeping it. There's quite a bit of other stuff that was left, but this was by far the most interesting.

Image

Here's the backyard from the inside of the house. Lot of glass here. And Rachael's parents are giving us a glass table which she plans to put in here. I can only imagine the devastation if something heavy ever barreled through there.

Image

And here's the man cave. It was originally a garage. That's why the other side of the house is paneling and not brick. You can also see the attic entrance. Also there's a door to the dryer. This is where all my stuff goes. I told Rachael she can have the rest of the house as long as I get this room. I assume I get all the utility building as well as she's not going to have much use for them. Also, if you look on the ceiling, there's a light fixture that looks like a pirate ship's wheel. It's awesome.

Image

Here's the living room. Not much to it. Though this is probably the only picture that you'll see with the walls that color. Rachael's painting them something else today. Also there's another wheel light fixture in here as well.

Image

That's the kitchen. It's got a little 'island' on wheels in the middle. To the right is where the fridge is going to be... which is to be delivered tomorrow.

Image

And here's the tiny guest room. This is were people will crash. Unless they don't like beds and prefer the bed/couch I'll have in the man cave.
Image

Here's the bathroom. There's also a half-bath in the 'master' bedroom. Speaking of which...

Image

Here it is. And if anyone happens to find the other half of my bathroom... be sure to let me know.

So yeah, that's generally about it. The pictures are rather boring without anything in them, but that'll be fixed this weekend. I've also recruited Kajak to come down this weekend along with SK to help. Pretty awesome. Anyways, I changed out the lock on the backdoor. It had a keyhole on either side. So you would need a key to get OUT of the house. Never figured out what that would serve (other than being a huge problem if you lost your keys and the house was on fire). I took out the lock from the front door and took it to a locksmith and asked him to re-key it to fit the key to the back door. So woot for that.

So if I had been able to come down, I would have stayed in a room that looks like a decimal? :p
