So, work is finally starting to slow down and it looks like I will have the time to put together and RP and maintain it. So I make this post

I intend on starting another RP, fresh from the box (generally). I'd like to hear feedback from any and all persons who are interested.

Two choices I am going with currently are.

Ragnarok - Yes I know I said fresh from the box, let me explain. Rag is the longest running RP on the Mag so far, and I feel terrible about it ending where it did. If I did do another Rag RP it would be a fresh start, from the very beginning. However, there would be a lot of changes.

Bethlehem - This is another idea for an RP that I have been brainstorming on.


OK, so, the feedback I want from you guys is which one you would be more interested in. To help you decide I'm going to list some of the things about both the rps.


Ragnarok - This round of Rag will basically hold true to the original one, by means of setting and story. Certain things will be updated and parts of the storyline will change. Character design will remain uniquely abstract, allowing great customization of your persona. Battle Mechanics will be completely released, allowing for more judgment when dealing with enemies. This will allow for more strategic and "artful" battles than mere running in, hitting things, and hoping to god it dies before you do. Feats will be released to each person individually on a stat level basis (for instance you can see further ahead in a stat that you have a higher score in). This allows for planning ahead in your levels and for people that want to keep it a mystery to do so.

Other changes will be a few mechanics and balance features to spells and abilities as well as the leveling system. Stats will still consist of 4 major stats.

Bethlehem - This story will play out in a less abstract world (probably apocalyptic future) but will still be designed as a mainly fantasy rp (magic and swords over guns and lazers, though there is the possibility for a little of the latter). Character design will not be abstract. Players will choose from a list of character types and will design their persona accordingly. This calls for a bit more group strategy and planning than Rag does. There will be 6 stats and a combat system similar to Rag. Fights will be less abstract based and more choosing from a list of options dependent on each character.

Customization does exist in the form of feats, though if more than one person plays the same class they will be similar in fighting duties regardless.

Both RP's will come equipped with fail safes that keep the action rolling regardless of my presence. Some of these will even be in the form of individual sidequests.


Basically it comes down to.

Rag = More customization and a Norse setting.

Beth = Less customization, more teamwork and a post-apocalypse setting.

I kind of like Bethlehem.

As for me, I would love to see Rag back in action. My biggest question has to do with the whole "starting from scratch" deal. That is okay and all, my worry would be about pre-existing characters. While not a whole lot of my character had been revealed yet, I have put a whole lot of thought into my character's past and the like. The question I have is would we have to scratch out our previous characters? I've grown rather fond of Ende.

@ Jamos - No you wouldn't have to give up Ende. If you honestly felt like it I would allow you to play him again. However, He would be starting over at level 1 with everyone else. But on the bright side you can change anything that you might have wanted to now.

Anyone can play their old rag characters if they want to. But they have to start over. Sorry bout that, but it's just how I would prefer it.

ok, looks like that's about as much interest as this topic is going to get.

And it's looks as though rag is going to win out. KK. I'm going to start working on everything that's needed. If you intend on playing, please post here so I know about how many people are going to join in.

For those that have previously played and wish to stay with their same character, please resubmit as you originally did. Things are going to be slightly different so I'll need to start fresh.

We currently have 4 signed up. I think that's enough to start with. I'm trying to get everything ready to start up this weekend, so if you want in before then get those character sheets pmed to me. If you can't make it in time, don't worry, like always Rag can always shuffle players in.
