You know back in the day I used to think that what would make me happy would be to just be pure goodness. What I mean by that is that I wanted to be all loving, all caring, always helpful, always positive...a clean, happy, healthy servant to humanity. I wanted to bring peace to everyone I ever met. I wanted them to know that life was good, that it was better than good, that it was heaven. I wanted to bring them happiness. In a sense I wanted to be like an angel.

I'm not quite that way anymore. I still believe in being positive and I strive for promoting and practicing significant empathy when we can but I don't want to be pure goodness.

Have any of you ever thought about this? What keeps you from being this way? What keeps us from being this way? Should we abandon this ideal for a more realistic perspective?

The dark half of my heart, I suppose. It is there - all Magic Knigth Rayearth 2 style - whether I like it or not. I am sure pretty much everyone in the world but the most hardcore douchebags of human beings would all gladly be entirely, 100% good and pure if they could. ^_^
