On this day, October 20th, 2009, I have procured the first carton of Egg Nog of the season, and thereby initiate with brimming glass and heart, the glorious season of Nog.

For those of you who are somewhat in the dark on these matters (and considering the status of this holiday as 'newborn' I'm including all of you in this, fools), pay attention:

The Day of Nog is a moveable feast, not necessarily maintained in the Christian Calendar, which centers around the return (whenever that may be) of Nog to the stocks of grocers world-wide. Its traditions may, will, and do include the procurement of Nog, the imbibing of Nog, the appreciation of Nog, and the complaining in the manner of a female dog about Nog only being available for roughly two-and-a-half months of the year. All of this is to be enacted in the single most comfortable positions and places you can, within your powers, find yourself to be (IE: blowjobs, lazyboys, comas, Denmark) to be enacted while listening to the best music available (with a mind to the fact that it should mirror the greater attributes of Nog: smooth, silken, coital); and, to be punctuated by the occasional holler of "Nog Me!"

When in doubt about when to Nog, or when in need of immobile feasting, feel free to make use of the 1st of November as a solid catch-all Nog date holiday. Nog will begin trickling into stores throughout the last third or so of October, and generally be fully arrived by the 1st, thus ensuring the World it will actually have something to be thankful for come Thanksgiving, to smile for when unwrapping socks at Christmas, and to freshen the taste of its projectile vomit come New Year's Morning After.

And so we, the Nonces of Nog, a small circle of friends and nobodies who have been, over the rough passage of years, bonded by the Nog, now unveil for your betterment and pleasure the Day of Nog.

To All A Good Nog.

It was delicious.

So ha!

I actually tried eggnog for the first time last year at a friends house. Quite delicious. Maybe I'll buy some myself this year.

So, I was screaming out "Nog me harder" while getting a blow from a chick while listening to some Pink Floyd..

I must say.. I'm enjoying this season of Nog.. and the gulps of Nog between gasps couldn't have tasted better.

Did I mentioned I was relaxing at a furniture store in one of the big comfy chairs... you know.. one that I can't afford?

I'm a bit curious what your take on virgin egg nog is, N.L.Y. Should it count, or does it need to be REAL egg nog.

I prefer virgin egg nog, really. It's a drink unto itself, and most people ruin it by sloshing in as much liquor as is palatable, which is not the point of any mixed drink, let alone Nog.
When it's hard nog, though, and it's with the right liquor in the right proportions, then I certainly don't mind.

Then may all partake of these festive times. I'll be looking forward to when my grocier has theirs up for purchase. I'll suspect SK posting here before too long, he's quite the 'nog fan as well.

I'm a very picky person when it comes to eating, or drinking anything. There are many things that I just refuse to try, and Egg nog is one of them. :x

You gotta at least try it, Guar. Don't let the name fool you. It is good.

The name doesn't have to fool you. It tastes terrible.

No thank you, I still pass. I said I'm VERY picky. The only reason I eat gelatin is because my mother chased me, pinned me to the ground and made me swallow it when I was a kid. (I asked for more then.)
Anyway, I found odd that I've never heard of Eggnog before, and I just found out why.
The Puerto Rican version of Eggnog is called coquito.

But how can you be picky about something's taste if you have no idea what it tastes like in the first place?

I'm not picky about taste. I'm picky about food. Or you can say I'm just not adventurous when it comes to food. I know it's ridiculous and maybe irrational, but I just can't bring myself to taste something that I don't think looks good. :\

I'll hold him down Bonanza. You get the eggnog ready.

You'll grow out of it :P

One day you're realize we're right.. how can you not try something atleast once that millions of people have no problem eating/drinking day in and out.

At the very least, it's not fear factor food (IE: Raw bull testicles or worse?)

Eggnog is sweet.. sure.. it's a little thick.. it's kind of like an Ice cream Shake.

and you've probably never had cheese cake either.. you're soooo missing out.
