A week ago, I got called in to work because my boss was too sick to work himself. He sounded pretty bad, but I assumed it was your typical winter illness. Nope! It was the beginnings of pneumonia. And probably the worst case of pneumonia I've ever seen. Currently, his blood pressure is way too low, he's on a repirator, and to top it all off, he's been unresponsive for the past couple days. It probably doesn't help that he is very overweight.

He almost died yesterday because of a mishap with the respirator. The nurses were trying to change his bedsheets, and in the process, the respirator's tube snapped apart, and as a result, he wasn't getting any air. They just barely noticed it in time. To my understanding, it took the doctors a good 40 minutes to get him stable, again.

His family is rather stressed out, especially his wife, who is threatening to shut down the bakery I work at. Nevermind the fact that this is happening at the busiest and should-be most celebrated time of the year. She was at work filling out order forms when the incident with the respirator occurred. Now, there's no chance of the bakery actually shutting down, but you can understand how stressful things are, right now.

I know I get called in a lot, but my boss is actually a pretty cool guy. He actually calls me "boss" as a nickname, and he actually has Transformers and Justice League models inside his office. I've been working with him for five years, now, and this situation is really bringing me down, too. So even though you don't know this guy, I ask that you send some well-wishes and/or prayers his way.

And, sorry if this kinda brings down your Christmas spirit.

Well, it's over. My boss passed away this morning.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I've also had a boss that felt a little more like a friend than an employer. That's a very uncommon thing to have. And I have no idea what it feels like to lose someone like that. Just reading your post that he passed kind of shocked me, really. And I thought of what it might feel like if the same happened to me.

I'm assuming the bakery is going to be closed until some time after the services and the family has had time to collect themselves. How you holding up?

I'm coping. Got myself a Wii U. Playing NSMBWU and editing more let's plays to keep my mind occupied. But still wishing he had survived.

The state of the bakery is questionable. They're closed for the moment, hopefully not for good. My boss was the sole proprietor of the bakery, so that complicates things. Hopefully his family can take over. I like working there, and it's good for the community. It's the sort of place that people would come into for a cup of coffee and a good convesation.
