So, if you were in the hangout last night you heard me cursing HP. I WAS AND STILL AM! Anyways, I found that when I pause the fan of my video card manually, that weird ass grinding noise stops happening. I think the fan on my video card is going out(this is the second HP desktop I have had with this problem, by the by). Anyways, here's the rub- I think it is the video card fan... and I don't really feel like going through the effort even if it is possible to replace the fan mounted on the video card.

So what video cards can I get in the 100-ish price range for my power supply? I'm freaking dumb. Also on a scale of what would fit. I can look at the store, but I don't really get which figure from my power supply I need to apply to what card to get. So the limit would be nice to know. I have included pictures!

This video card also came with the computer(so did the power supply). I got it in about 2010... the card is an AMD Radeon HD 6570. My processor is an AMD Phenom II X6 1075T(3.00 GHz). I have 8GB RAM, and Windows 7 64-bit.

Fan when on, making whirrrRGRINDWHIRRR noises

Fan when held with awesome toilet paper roll(I was using it to listen around). Icky noise stopped.

And lastly, the info on the side of my power supply. It came with the computer.

I'd really like to get some input so I can go to the store tonight and actually replace the video card. It is getting unbearable.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

I currently use a Radeon HD 7750 and it was $95 on Amazon and it's been great. No slow downs in hangouts or other games I play (unless an emulator slows a game). I would be sure to check to make sure it'll be okay with your processor, but I don't figure it to be a problem at all. Hope this helps.

Really, any video card that fits in a PCI Express slot will work find. Though your power supply doesn't seem to support cards that need external power (as in power from the power supply its self and not pull it from the board like your current card).

I looked around and I think I would recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-HD6670 ... +Radeon+HD

It's an AMD card like you are used to. It has the same outputs as your original card, is a decent upgrade, and doesn't require external power. Not only that, but it's fairly cheap. 60 bucks for a 100 dollar card is good stuff. Though I haven't had an AMD card in many years. So I can't speak for it's quality... only it specs.

I would go with this one: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Express-Crossfire-Graphics-GV-R667D3-2GI/dp/B0086A7AB8/

In comparison to the one Lantis linked, it has twice the ram on board, costs $2 more, and everything else is identical.

Now if you feel like spending all of that $100, for a faster and otherwise similar card (just one notch higher on the totem pole)
you could go with this one: http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-Express-Graphics-R7750-PMD2GD3/dp/tech-data/B009SPJ8FG/

And finally if the fan noise is the only thing wrong, you could try adding a shim to push the case around the fan slightly away from the card itself. But first, check if there are any loose wires bumping into it. Any cable management you can do would help with the overall temperature of the PC. Hope this helps.

This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-P ... on+hd+7750

Consider all your options and decide what you want to go with. A little research can help, too.

Thanks for all the help!

I decided to go with this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-P ... pg__header

As to why... since this is an HP desktop there really isn't all that much room in it. This one does not seem to take up a lot of vertical room with the fan(which would be more of a problem in this one) and apparently does not use external power... which would have been another problem.

It'll come with a dvi-i to VGA converter so you can keep using your VGA cable.
