Today's a pretty rainy day, but fortunately I'm still on vacations and with plenty of stuff (and by stuff, I mean video games) to keep myself entertained. So I'm feeling pretty good. :D

Oftentimes I could make those kinds of days the best ones, Guar. And I imagine it's the same for most others here. ^_^

Google+ lied to me. I'm sorry for being so late, Duel.

Whenever someone I know personally or a person of celebrity status dies I wonder if, unless they were on their deathbead in the days prior, that person had any foreshadowing whatsoever of their impending demise.

I was on my way home yesterday evening from Lantis' house and a message suddenly sprang on the radio about how seemingly highly known and beloved radio show host Kidd Kraddick suddenly passed this weekend and he will be missed. I was like, wow, really? Just like that? There are just some people you think will live on forever. Sure enough, as I tuned in to his morning show on the way to work, his co-hosts were going over fond memories of him and all. What a shame. Like many others, I became a pretty avid listener to the Kidd Kraddick's show after moving to east Texas a little over four years ago, and he and his radio friends always made me laugh. (Without a CD player in my car, it sure beat the heck out of listening to Taylor Swift songs.) I always thought Kidd oftentimes gave the others on the show a little too hard a time and didn't seem to ever know when to let up, especially on our favorite Radio Southern Belle Kelly Raspberry, but other than that, he seemed like a really good guy who had a much brighter and more optimistic view of humanity than the average joe.

The almost cruelly ironic thing is, Kidd had come up with this segment to do every day of the previous week on the show where each of the hosts would pretend to be on their deathbed and say the final words that they think they would say to each of the others before the plug would get pulled. It was meant to be humorous, of course, but .... all that time, as he was laughing and having a good time with the whole thing like always, I sincerely doubt Kidd had any inkling whatsoever that he would actually die in real life before the end of the week. Well, I know the show will ever be the same without him, but I hope the every-middle-aged-American-husband's-secret-fantasy Kelly, the beautiful and intelligent but battle-hardened Jenna, the goofy, deliberate black stereotype Big Al, and the (my personal favorite) laughingly childish JC choose to try to continue the show without him.

RIP, sir.

Well, I'm now essentially getting kicked out of where I'm staying because they want their space back. I'm being given about a month, which is going to stress me out trying to find a house, so now I'm back to looking at apartments. Jee golly tootin.

This is a very ugly time to be a twenty-something. When I was younger, I remember the nightly news scandalously informing us that mine would be the first generation whose life expectancy would be shorter than our parents'.
Turns out, absolutely everything about our lives is sh*t, compared with what our parents had. America (and, I presume, the rest of the Western world) has been stacked in favor of the wealthiest folk. And when we try to point out that our grandparents could afford to put our parents through college, that we live in a world without entry-level jobs, that to earn a degree we'll need to somehow cover $15-30k per year in tuition and expenses, all while paying our own rent and feeding ourselves...
...when we point out that we're 24 and starving, that we earn too much for welfare but not enough to make ends meet, that we are forced to cohabit out of financial necessity, that our brothers and sisters are returning from bogus wars to a GI bill that won't educate them and a workforce that has nothing to offer, that our politicians are more concerned with building weapons and legislating morality than with maintaining a social safety net, that our interests are not being represented no matter who we vote for...
...we are accused of class warfare, deviance, rabble-rousing, whining.
Somebody in another thread, I can't find it, summed up the Occupy movement as follows:
"sh*t's f*cked up!"
"Yes, it is. What would you like to fix?"
"Everything! Now!"
That's true. We didn't have a goal, or a structure, or any sense of what we were trying to do, except that somebody needed to do something. We ran out of steam, but not before we were met with tear gas in the streets.
But here's the problem: it's not our watch yet. We don't know how to fix this sh*t, because half of us haven't been to college and even the ones who have don't know what to do with what they've learned, except that they're pretty angry about the state of society, and with good reasons.
You guys are supposed to fix it. You're the ones with experience. You were supposed to parent us, and then hand us the reins to a world slightly better than the one you inherited. You were supposed to elevate your best and your brightest to lead us, to teach us, to set an example for us to aspire to.
Instead we get this. We get George Bush, Barack Obama, and Ron Paul. We get a system designed to put us in debt and keep us in debt. We have been screwed out of the kingdom we were promised. We're standing, speechless and without a clue how to proceed, outside the pearly gates, with the keys to a kingdom which was broken into and pillaged while we were still in diapers.
You've killed our friends in countries we know nothing about, deprived us of the overwhelming majority of those opportunities which were available to prior generations, and when we demand some sort of action, we're told, smugly:
"Work harder. Get an education."
I'd love to, if you'd let me.

When I was little, my mom really liked the Barenaked Ladies' song "One Week".
My command of English wasn't good enough to fully understand what it was about, beyond appreciating how catchy it was.

Listening to it now, I realize it's actually a very well made song and deserved all the attention it had for more reason than its rhythm.

One Week is pretty darn cool. I didn't comprehend certain lyrics til much later in life(we're dans la maison)... but still.

I finally saw SK's Bioshock Infinite reaction. And I have to say, good job guys. It felt like a regular reviewer video. You might wanna do that more! And I'm sure it took less editing than the PE3 Review.:P

But anyways, I found this quote on an article about it, and I think I agree.

" It confuses pointing to themes like religion, racism, and American exceptionalism with having anything interesting to actually SAY about those themes."

Basically it steps in many deep theme waters for apparently no reason because none of that was truly needed to tell a story that ends up being the ending. You could literally sub anything for the religious aspect of the two Bookers and still have it stand. I guess they decided writing was too hard after the first part.

Moving to our new house up north today, and I'll be there until school starts in a few weeks. It's just so weird - I'll maybe spend a few random days down here, and then winter break, but that's probably it. We're putting it on the market in March or so, so it'll probably be sold before I'm done with the school year. It just feels so weird - besides the year I was in Belgium, I've lived here my whole life. Knowing that once we sell it I can't really come back anymore is just weird. Ugh.

Oh, right, I meant to tell you that, Fay. Thanks for watching. And so now you know .... And knowing is half your sanity!

But here's something else I must rant upon. I could make another hour-long video of it, but instead let me just unleash right here briefly, please. ... I hate R.A. Salvatore's writing. I tried to give him a second chance four years after being astounded at how much my first viewing of his works - The Cleric Quintet - by reading The Hunter's Blades Trilogy, and now I'm done with him. Screw this guy. I can't stand his sentiments. Fantasy is often bad about making the bad guys pitiable creatures like orcs just there ripe for slaughter, but not only does Forgotten Realms seem to up the ante on this one, it's like Salvatore is absolutely determined to include every possible cliche at once, as well as making the heroes these unlikeable kill-crazy bastards who pass lovers around with each other like they were bongs. Sorry if any of you guys are Forgotten Realms fans (if you are, I don't know that, so no personal jab intended here), but these kinds of sentiments just personally offend me, almost as much as the storyline in Bioshock Infinite does (*contemplates becoming Id again and making the entire planet feel his wrath at this HORRIBLE storyline*). And yet, he once said he could do better than Weis and Hickman. They aren't nearly as bad.

I'm going back to James Howe and Beverly Cleary. They may be mere memoirs from my childhood, but at least they don't suck.

Thank you for letting me rant. I'm done.

Second day bartending, and I had to work 1-6 during the city festival by myself. Had $135 in tips, but holy sh*t it was busy. I don't know why they trusted me to run it all.
