Post subject:  Plans for RPG Maker 3

Well I just completed a list and it turns out that I have 22 games that I want to make for RPG Maker 3 alone.

Eventually I’ll get around to RPG Makers 2 and 1.

Not to mention playing your games as well.

I’ve decided to make 5 games Active, 4 games Substitute, and 13 games Reserve.

Here is the difference with respect to ‘ideas’:

Reserve: Log
Substitute: Log/Create/Test
Active: Log/Create/Test/Plan/Program

Log-record them when they arrive in the mind
Create-actively generate them into the mind
Test-translate them into a RPGM prototype to see if they can transmit the meaning
Plan-lay them out in sequence and in detail
Program-translate the plan into a completed RPGM work

And once I have a work I will Playtest it and upload it to the Mag when it is ready.

Of course every game will be different. Some games will need to be Planned in detail on paper (like a schematic) and others won’t need to be Planned at all, but rather transferred directly from Creation into the Program (like an art piece).

So we’ll see.

And for the last time (?), I will be uploading my first game soon. I hope within 10 days.

It is called “Who did this!?â€

That's quite ambitious AnonymousBo. I hope you are able to make 1/4 of the games you propose. That's great that you'll be posting a new game soon.

Well some are going to be pretty short, like taking an hour or two to play and others are going to take weeks.

The problem is the ones in the middle that will take several days to play because unlike the sort ones, they cannot be made in a couple days and unlike the long ones, I cannot treat them as a baby project and give as much time as they need (because there are too many of them), so it is a challenge. I'm not even going to speculate as to how many I finish, but I can tell you that I am serious about the ones that are active as they definitely seem 'worth' making from every angle (personal message/fun gameplay for the community/ showcase the power of RPGM 3, etc.)

Thanks for responding.

um... If you do 4 games a year.. You will be ready for the other RPGmakers in about 5 1/2 years. :p

And by then I'm sure another RPGmaker will be out. :)

What I expect will happen is that I will significantly shorten some games, and others will become incorprated into a different game and some I'll lose interest in. I also hope that someone else will end up conveying the idea so that I don't have to.

But presently, I am treating them as 22 different games that I want to make. :)

Damn...and I thought I was bad by having four games and two teasers planned under the heading, Series 4.

Well, we are almost at October, a time when it all will begin.

My first priority in the new (fiscal) year is to testplay my game one last time and submit it for RPGM3.

I am superpumped about getting down to working on the games that I want to make for RPGM3. Starting a week from this Sunday, I will be spending all day Sundays gamemaking.

I'm also going to try some of your games for the first time.

My game is finally ready to be submitted. It has been play tested and backed up to another memory card. The only thing left is for me to copy it to the Max Drive and me to upload it to the Mag.

Who did this!? (Survival Horror)

This week I plan on going through the game ideas that I have to choose a game to start working on. I have a better idea now of what I want to see made and what I'm willing to scrap.

Good idea. Might I suggest you put most of your ideas into your game if you can. Putting it all in there makes you feel even better afterward when everything comes together.
And is it just me, or does Who Did This? sound more like a comedy rather than a survival horror?

Maybe the survival horror is not so much comedic as it is absurd.
Made great progress on my next game for RPGM3 which uses several of my game ideas in a single game. Have most of the layout completed but now have to work on the character modes and events.

All kinds of possible game events are coming to mind so I really have to stay focused and not let the game get out of hand, but I'm very happy with its progress.

I haven't checked in a bit, but I'm glad you seem to be on top of your game. As you say, be sure not to overreach.

Thanks.

Lately I've been doing the game in my head because I decided that a couple more ideas can be implemented. In a couple days I hope to go back to programming it/laying it out, but it really is on the verge of getting out of hand, not because it can't be done, but my hope for a quick release will likely be delayed due to how much work would need to go into it.

I am contemplating making a different shorter game simultaneously.

I recently did a lot of memory card shuffling and backed up some stuff through the Maxdrive to the PC, so I have enough memory card space to start making just about every game that I want to work on.

I currently have 6 games that I would like to start so that I can pick up where I left off anytime I'm in the mood.

I already have significant work done on 2.

Three of the games lean toward the RPG, and 3 lean toward the Adventure, with one of the Adventure games being a survival horror game that I have been looking forward to making a long time.

Unfortunately, I don't see any of these being released anytime soon.

No progress to report.

I just want to mention that these games are still on my mind, but other priorities (unfortunately) are calling and I was sick for more than the last week.

I went through and looked at some of the work on two games that I had been working on. Man I want to finish these games. Its always fun when you see the name of a town in the menu and can't remember what it looks like.

So I have to decide whether or not I want to continue working on my first game which might be my favorite story or a recent game which might be my favorite gameplay or start some of the games which might be my favorite ideas.

By the way, I have no time.

OK, here is what I decided. I went back and examined some of my work in the first game I ever began for RPGM3 "A Lost Cause". It turns out that there is much that I like and much that I do not like with the way I originally layed out the maps. I started revising the maps to be more playable and decided that instead of being a traditional RPG, this game is going to be akin to a survival-horror-adventure-RPG hybrid so that battles, weapons, and magic will be more than a diversion but not the core of what this game is about. The game will be first about the story with adventure exploration as significant as battling.
