Aaah... Goldeneye. The only FPS I really enjoyed... (but that I still sucked at) it would be nice to hear more about this.

Well, that's all there is to it right now. But I will say that I'm kind of disapointed they didn't put this on xbox. The reason? Well, New Super Mario Wii is coming out soon. It's a 2.5D (side scroller with a touch of 3D graphics) platformer with four player co-op. The problem with that is it seems Nintendo just couldn't make it online co-op... only local.

If they can't make online work with a side scroller... how would they ever get it to work with a 4-player co-op fully 3D FPS? If it were xbox. It would get all the lovely online trimmings the game desirves... no questions asked. Probably with leaderboards and the works.

Nitendo Power just became an oximoron.

You know what? I didn't even consider about the online possibilities. But you have a good point.

Let's not forget how disasterous online Super Smash Bros. Melee was.

It's 2009 and everything BUT Nintendo can do online just perfectly fine.

And besides, didn't they do Mario Kart Wii with 16 players at one time and work most the time? There's really no excuse.

Well maybe it's not that they can't get it online (unless they specifically said so), but that it's not worth putting online. I mean, it's only four players playing at a time on a straightforward chain of stages. Aside from L4D, how many games have tried that online?

Speaking of Nintendo Power and Goldeneye, I know this is very off-topic, but I just found the Goldeneye issue of Nintendo Power. They answered one of my letters in it.

Borderlands, Halo3, Halo ODST, Sacred 2, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Duke Nukem' (has 16 player co-op start to finish), Castle Crashers, Splosion' Man, N+, and as you mentioned, L4D.
And those were just the ones in my recently played list. All on 360.

By the way, co-op is ALWAYS worth putting online. Why the hell in today's gaming market, restrict us to local? It is just dumb.

I dunno, I'm just seeing it like other online games, where you're joined up with complete strangers and have to wait around for people to come online to team up with. It's one thing to join up with a random person for a quick run through a go-kart race. It's another to share a quest where unknown players 2-4 are coming and going during each level.

With this kind of Mario game we wanted to focus on the living room experience. We could have made an online Mario game, but the effort and resources you devote to putting it online will result in sacrificing something else.

Translation: No, we aren't even going to try. In fact, we'll just say that a 2D side-scroller would lose resources even though a fully 3D racing game we have already made can support 16 people at one time. Also, we assume that everyone has a total of at least 1 to 3 buddies in your house at all times... rendering online worthless, obviously.
