It's not often that I find a language that I love straight off the bat with no hard feelings at all. Until today only 2 have struck me as uber awesome (Turbo Pascal, and SQL) but today I sat down a learned ActionScript and damn, thats a good scripting language.

Like Javascript its purpose driven, and compact. Unlike Javascript it is written for a specific program and comes with a kick-ass dictionary and reference guide! It supports certain for dummies aspects like it won't kill you if you don't use semi-colons religiously but it strongly advocates using them! ^.^
Easy to use debugging tools. Optimized function and variable scopes for on-the-fly scripting. Offers Code Hints for built-in's by defining descriptive suffixes (an oh so clever way of enforcing naming conventions). Supports Auto data typing but also offers strict data typing for users with a programming background. Taps quite flexibly into the freedom custom classes and methods. AND it even supports a large selection of our favourite mathematical, logical, bitwise, and assigning operators and/or functions.

Maybe I just like it because it has a DAMN GOOD FREAKING MANUEL! Which does go into theory but that is easy to skip over if you are just looking at the model and specifications AND it has a DICTIONARY full of SYNTAX ONLY! <3

If you don't want to you don't need to read a single word of theory! No lengthy explanations on how if...else.. statment executes, just beautiful syntax, hierarchy (sp?) models, and charts. I mean there is even a chart of error codes, like how awesome is that! Just a chart! no explanation!

Moral of the story - Never be scared of Flash though some people say its hard!! It's great!! Especially if you come from a programming backgound!! Cus then its actually really easy! You'll Love it! I guarantee!!
