Is there a way where I'm at a space next to a monster, who (the graphic) is moving around, and it is facing me, so I get into a battle with it? If not that, if I just come within a space next to it. I'm using touch right now, but that isn't what I want. Thanks

Which RPG Maker are you using? I can tell you right now, it's not possible in RPGM1 or RPGM3. It's a complex process in RPGM2, and an easily available option in RMXP. Dunno about RMVX.

Oops I forgot to mention that. I'm using RPGM1. Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate it :) I'll just use touch or maybe something else.

directly, it isnt possible since each square works on its own <duplicate>. if you can squeeze the event into a narrow passage way then you can put a moving invisable event to trigger the roaming enamey to make it look like the monster saw you and attacked though this way is extreamly unreliable as the monster could be anywhere on the screen.

i like to have hidden touch points on the dongeon map where it will make a sound like a twig snap and cause the monster in that area to approach. try to be inventive for the situation. if you cant do what you want then find another way to similate the same idea.

i dont think this will work but have a roaming monster event and suround it by an invisable character graphic thats also roaming. have that event take over the one in the centre. i havent tried this and i forget how moving duplicated events work so ill test it tomorrow myself and let you know.

Ooh, great info Karr! Reading that gives me a few ideas, though nothing solid yet. Thanks for considering testing it out :) I'll let you all know if I find anything myself (doubtful though, as I am a newbie)

the last idea i mentioned doesnt work, each event behaves under its own ai until its activated. once its activated, a duplicate event will effect all other copies and the origonal.

just keep at it and you will find something that gets you close to where you want to be.

Well, there are ways to emulate vision. What would be real neet is if you could add in vision cones. You know, like on games that have mini-maps that show just exactly what enemies can and can't see. Maybe possible with XP, but nothing else.

I did make a mini-game that did exactly what you are talking about, and the enemies could "see" as many spaces as I would like. The problem is that they were fixed in one place and not roaming around.

If anything, you could always just make the enemies difficult to get around and have them chase the player. I've more than once accidentally bumped into an enemy that suddenly lept in my way.
