Alright, let's start this thing. First off, have you seen our new sprite archive, yet? An explanation: that was our archive from an older version of the Mag. It got taken down and "lost" during one of our previous transitions (like the one we just had). It had preview images as well, but those were lost for real, and the character images weren't animated anyway. So early this year I submit my log sprite, and I ask Ixzion what happened to the old archive, finds out he has them, and offer to give them new preview images. But I got lazy, until I got the idea to get them ready for our new site. Enough people knew I was working on these that we decided to use it as a front for the true update.
Yes, I did every single one of those preview images. Hours and hours of work. And I gave them all their descriptions. (BTW, take a look at the character descriptions. I tried to keep those a little interesting.) Thanks goes to OblivionWolf/Feros, though. He helped put them on the site. Odd fact: some of the monsters were rips from Final Fantasy VI. Not the CG stuff, from the actual game. Yes, for RPGM1. Yeah, I don't know why we had those, either. I saw no reason to put them up. But seriously, original characters are encouraged if you have any to share.
So how long have I known about Mag v5? Well, I'm not sure if I can say, really, but it's been a while. And can you guess how hard it was to resist telling you guys? Well, it wasn't. But considering how often I was IMing with Ixzion and OW about it, I'm surprised I didn't accidentally post one of my replies into plain view in the chatroom.
I did get to become one of Ixzion's site breakers-- er, I mean, testers, though. Oh, and those who went to the Rainy Day Forums and wondered about a member called supermandude, let the inside joke be revealed! Yeah, that was me. supermandude was the account name I used to help test the new site. Still exists, actually.
And now comes the motivational-sounding (or something) part of this post. To be able to work with Ixzion and OblivionWolf on this project was a real treat. I didn't think that, even as Head Reviewer, I'd get to play as large a role in the upgrading of the main site as I did. True, between the three of us, I had the least amount of work to do (and both Ixzion and Feros wound up pulling an all-nighter as we were finishing up), but still, it was fun.
In closing, if anybody wants to get me a copy of Metroid Prime 3 as a completely unrelated random gift, I'd be happy.
