What You Need A. 1 P2 or higher computer with a CD-ROM drive or better with MS Paint or another graphic program B. 1 copy of ePSXe, which can be found at http://www.epsxe.com C. 1 "RPG Maker CD-ROM" Breakdown: A. Look, you need a computer to do this. If you're looking at this and don't know what a computer is, then...wow. B. This is the trickiest part of the whole deal. You see, ePSXe is an emulator. Emulators are not illegal. However, ePSXe needs the BIOS of Sony's Playstation to work correctly. Now, if you are legally in possession of a Playstation, then you can dump the the BIOS using a Gameshark or Pro Action Replay. Or you can simply look for one on the internet somewhere. The filenames are: scph1001, scph7502. Either should work for you. Also, if you need help with the setup of ePSXe, then read up on it on the official ePSXe site. Setting up the emulator for your shots takes time and tinkering, as every computer's setup is different. C. I'm sure you have a copy of RPG Maker, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't care about this FAQ. --------------------------- P3. How to take screenshots Once you've set everything up with ePSXe, open up MS Paint (or other program) and just leave it open. Open up your CD-ROM drive and put in RPG Maker (make sure ePSXe is pointing to the drive you put the game in!). Run ePSXe with RPG Maker. Play the game like you normally would. When you get to a point where you'd like to take a screenshot, press the PrintScr button. Get it? Print Screen? Anyway, minimize ePSXe (it's usually Escape, but it's different for different plugins) and go to MS Paint. Once in MS Paint, go to Edit >> Paste. The screenshot that you took will now show up! Crop the picture as you wish or just leave it alone. Either way, save the picture like you would a normal image. A small note, though, is that if you save the picture as a .jpg, it will lose a little color. I recommend saving it the first time as a .bmp or .png and then resaving with a different name as a .jpg. Wash, rinse, repeat until you're done. ----------------------- P4. Cliché Ending Notes I'd like to thank myself for writing this tutorial. I'd like to thank you for reading it, I suppose. RPG Maker Magazine is so awesome, it'll make your face explode. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? And.......I'm done. Copyright 2005 Lord Ixzion/Davien Stith
